Point:there are studies that proves the idea of social learning theory can explain gender development
Evidence: smith and Lloyd amused 4-6 months old babies who dressed in both gender closing in equal amounts. When in masculine clothing adults gave them hammers and encouraged them to be active where as feminine clothing caused the adults to give them dolls and allied them pretty.
Explanation: this suggests that gender appropriate behaviour is stamped at an early age through different types of reinforcement which support this theory.

Changing gender roles in Western Society
P: there's less of a distinction between what people regard as stereotypically masculine and feminine behaviour in society today
E: the shift in social expectations and cultural norms over the years mean new forms of accepting behaviour have been reinforced. e.g:women are now in engineering more and the workplace
E: there's been no corresponding change in people's basic biology so this shift is better explained by SLT rather than the biological approach
