"Padlets" are the name given to a soft technological medium which combines: audio, text, and visual (still images and videos) data into a streamlined format- in the form of self contained clickable and expandable "walls". It is remniscent of the social media website Tumblr.

Padlets can be used to preserve digital history in very archival like manner, looking at posts can feel as if one is perusing a document warehouse; it is a viable solution to organising and storing history in a way that can be sorted, and compiled easily; whilst being visually appealing and interactive.

In History classes, Padlets bring an element of creativity for students to express themselves, with various reaction gifs or voice notes, etc. It encourages quick collaboration in information sharing, and giving each other opinions and feedback. Padlets may be grouped in matrices to make the flow of information when studying or researching easier- like stacking or lining up books on a table. From the instructor's use of always at the top, admin-priveledged stickied posts, students can be sure to never miss an assignment, or something of particular importance to the class. I think Padlet accentuates the teaching of History. It helps students to think creatively and critically, rather than just picking information off the internet. The use of audiovisual aids allows students to engage with History in a more informal sense which will, in turn, make them more susceptible to learning. Padlet goes beyond just teaching in a classroom and writing words on a board, this gives students a space to express themselves even with the so-called “boring” subject of history.

Advantage 1
Padlet can be used by lecturers to try and figure out what students know on a particular topic that is going to be taught. Students would be able to post their knowledge on the topic and it would be easier for the lecturer to get an understanding of the student’s knowledge.

What is Padlet? Sit tight, I'm about to tell you!

It is a website and an app that allows kids to to collect, select and present information or items such as pictures, video, music, etc, onto virtual bulletin boards using a simple drag-and-drop system.
1) The padlet is very interactive. It gives students and teachers the opportunity to both engage in learning and teaching. It allows for fun learning, participation monitoring and a better perception of history. It allows you to use all the various tools to make your imagination come to life. Tools that can be seen below. The very same tools use for said image. Press three little dots and you can add an audio clip, a video, a google image, gif, location or even draw something. After you're done creating, these pieces can be saved. There are many advantages of padlet in teaching history, however three will be discussed below.
1. User friendly- Padlet is user friendly as it allows for the both students and teachers to use the platform easily. Also, students are able to change the colours, add images and videos. Padlet is a fun and interactive platform which is so easy to use that makes history fun! Brainstorming ideas for assignments are so easy its almost like pasting sticky notes on the wall. As a history teacher you could make classes more colorful and engaging with videos . voice notes and eye popping sticky notes.

Being able to post anonymously would also increase class participation as many students have anxiety when answering questions asked in class. More engagement means more learning!

Someone made the statement that History is boring and I agree with them. I remember in high school sitting through long lectures, trying to take notes that I had to study in order to prepare for exam at the end of the semester. So I find these articles on the advantages of using Padlet to teach history rather interesting. The methods mentioned would have really brought my history class to life all those years ago.

Its an easy access and interactive digital tool that allows teachers to share information and students to reflect or to comment on the same. History as a subject tends to be referred to as boring, so with the incorporation of the Padlet learning tool more life and fun can be pumped into an interactive way of teaching History.

An advantage of using of using Padlet to teach would be its a notice/bulletin board type of platform that allows creative commentry. So the teacher will post the topic of discussion and students will post a comment on thoughts on the topic, this can be used as a note making session for learning from each other.

Padlet is a great tool to use for Brainstorming. For example if the class is doing a project together this platform can be used for brainstorming project ideas by allow students comment thier real time.

The platform provides a live question bank that gives a voice to all students so that they can pose their questions during a lecture and those can be addressed afterwards this can be anonymously to protect students ego.

We live in a time where everything is accessible on the World Wide web, right? Its an all in one deal, who knew that by the year 2021 we could go shopping online, not have to go to the cinema physically to see a movie, get books and see parts of the world without stepping foot on a plane?

We learn everyday and about everything. So quite obviously, we can use this data bank call the internet to do so as well. Padlet is one of those web applications that helps in doing so. As it relates to history, the times are moving super fast and with technological advancement in full force, we have to take a second to keep record of it all. With the use of Digital history; an approach to examine and represent past works with new communication technology, we as students of life get the chance to learn and interpret our history and others as well.

The advantages, i must say are quite amazing. Firstly, Padlet as a platform to teach history has made the course much more creative and entertaining. It allows for a free way of thinking with our peers; cant beat that. Padlet is also FREE; yes i said free and so great amounts of people,not just students can use this to learn and encourage critical thinking in a historical.

That's not all, Padlet is a good forum for student to share thoughts on historical events and the impact they've had on present day society in addition to this,we're exposed to many other perspectives that invoke mind expanding thoughts. Lastly, Padlet makes history or at least my class more personal, especially with the lack of interaction due to the pandemic.
