All of the other girl reacted to this by pretending to see the Devil in the church. They started screaming and asking for gods protection. The girl in this picture is praying before she is going to be executed. Many people saw this as strange because the girl is being killed due to the accusations of practicing witchcraft. Everyone saw them as witches. In the 1600's worm and girls weren't looked at as equal to men. So for these girls to draw up so much backhanded popularity, it was a weird situation. This photo represents one of the most crucial parts of the non-fiction story that became known as the Salem witch trials(The Crucible). A group of young women were caught in the forest dancing around very early in the morning. It seemed as if they were in some sort of hysterical euphoria that caused them to take off their clothes and dance around the forest. From the outsiders perspective it looked mischievous.
