The community I am choosing to emamine is the Crinimial Justice field. The reason I have chosen this field is becuse I want to pursue a carrer as a detective someday. For me personally, I find the interaction between a detective and a susupect in a case or everyday life to be very fasinating. The dectective must get the answers they are looking for while still remaining calm and always one step ahead of the game. The skill this must take is someothing I hope to learn more about.

Most of the time when people think about the Law enforcement, they think about shows on telivision. For certain things this can be true, however most of the time being a detective is overgrlamorized in the eyes of the public. A detective is someone who investigates crime, usially appart of a police agnecy. Being a dectective takes patience, an active mind and someone who is talented at talking with people. Not to mention a strong mental mindset is vital to success with this carrer.

Detective's utilize many different geners of writing in their community including; Suspect reports, investaginal reports, and record keeping. These are just naming a few genres of writing, in relality there is much more becuse every thought process has to to recorded and put on the record. Only then a judge or other colliges can understand how the detective's conclusion was made in the first place.
Above I have an example of what a detailed account might look like from a reporting officer or dectective. The information above would be used to keep a due process exam and account of information, you will notice there are many constraints in the example above, mainly the format.

This is am example of crime scene investagtion report of the J.F.K shooting in 1964. You will notice how detaled this report is, it's filled with micro information even something as simple as where the 6.5 caliber bullet was made could be vital information. These kind of reports could eventually be something that could put a person in prison for the rest of there life. That's what prompts the procedure of how the Crinimal justice system works today.

Interviewing Suspects

I think the most intersting part of being a detective is how they interact with the suspect while conducting interviews. as contrary as this sounds, detectives who are conducting interviews rarly rely on witness statments prior to interviewing the suspect. The best approach to gain information is asking open ended questions this will make the suspect more comfortable with allowing more freedom within the answer.
Keeping an open mind when asking these open ended questions is the key to extracting more information, after all thats's the goal.
Usually the detective has more information then they let on initially, this creates a false sense of being in control for the suspect. This might lead the suspect to controdict themselves when challenged with a new set of information, or why that first scerino wouldn't add up in the first place.

Detective's will write reports and froms that consist of factual information really focusing on the evidence that will hold up in a cort of law. So when we look at what detectives are writing, we can observe that they focsused on each step of the process of justice. This is imparitive for a hands on approach confirming or denying the detectives suspicions of what really happend, making sure that every detail lines up.

There is a very specific tone and style to which a detective must have to be successful. A commen theam that I have notcied is a lot of rigor, combined with specific information, and no opinion. Everything is regimented with very clear context and restraints about what is expected with interviewing, writing reports, and evidence collecting.
The format with writing is very similar within the department, often times there is a template with guidelines for collecting evidece, or interviewing witness. Detectives are also tought to observe body cues, are part of the human language.

The information that detectives offer in their reports durning an investagtion are essitnial with proving someones guilty of that crime, or innocent. It's also essitnal that that the reports are full of detailed informattion, in a regimented easy to follow naritive for other collgies or a judge and jury to understand where that information came from as part of the due process of investagtion. The language that happens between a detective and the suspects, also happens in the general public. Being able to give information when nessary, by making peolple more comfortable if a loved one has been lost, and not giving the whole truth until the investagtion is over, is a true skill indeed.

Another question to consider is how are these reports cicrulated? well, these reports are publlic of course, I don't mean in a general public way, but more in a public way amongst there own law enforcment. Most reports that dectectives write, will be held in testimony in a court of law to prosecute an induvidual accused of crime. So, that means there has to be a public record kept in case of any undo proceses of justice.
