Thus, we gave them a refreashing bath in the Mae Heang River. Not only did this bath refreash them, it also made them squeeky clean! We edged our way into the inviting waters, whilst guiding the elephants by their necks with ropes. From afar, the elephants backs looked rought and scalely. In reality, that was not the case. As we srubbed the mud and dirt off the smooth backs of the packidermated creature, they frolicked in the waters and sprayed water out of their trunks. Through this activity, we all realised that grooming the elephants was not an easy job. We started to sympathise with the zookeepers- those who had to stand under the sweltering weather to keep the elephants hygienic. We also learned about some basic grooming skills. Hopefully with these skills, I am able to own a pet! We are also exposed to taking care of different types of animals in the animal kingdom in this activity. Thailand is situated near the equator, making the weather humid. Thailand has the conditions to be in the tropics, hence tropical elephants are able to thrive well there. With its oppressive heat and it being summer all year round, elephants tend to be stickier and sweatier. Alright, lets sit back and devour the juicy experience. There are two activities that i would like to share my experiences about. Well, i would actually want to go on another learning service trip with the school as I am able to widen my horizon and widen my social circle. On top of understanding how fortunate we are and instilling values in our everyday lives, I am also able to learn about the country's culture and interacting with the citizens of Thailand. Don't just believe my words. However, its not the case. On my first day of  volunteering, I was assigned to be in charge of distributing medicines to elephants that had been injured. We walked to the shelter which housed all the injured elephants. As I stepped into the room that contained huge shadow like creatures, I was flabbergasted at the high influx of injured or ill elephants queuing in line to get medical assistance. These mammals function differently from us, humans. Hence, I was able to witness the many different types of diseases and treatments used to cure the sick elephant. I followed the doctor and his instructions making me the doctor's right-hand man for the day. As I busily administered medicine to the elephants, I learnt that with these skills, I can continue to provide them with necessary medical assistance. With this additional knowledge of basic first aid, I would be more confident is giving my friend medical assistance when he or she is injured.
