As my son graduates from MHSA this year, I can't help but think about my first experience with MPS when my daughter was 4 at Escuela Vieau. Having grown up in a rural village surrounded by corn fields, I didn't now what to expect: it was overwhelming. Teachers and staff (shout out Sr. Galvan!) made us feel like part of Milwaukee in spite of our differences. Fast forward 20 years and I couldn't be more thankful for the work teachers put in - not just toward instruction - but in making schools a community of care. It's my honor to support their work here at central services.

I LOVE MPS! My family's deep connection to MPS spans generations: my parents, my husband, our children, and I are all products of MPS. I have dedicated 24 years of service to MPS students and families, and it remains an honor and a privilege to collaborate with our highly dedicated staff. I find great fulfillment in witnessing our students learn and grow as leaders, scholars, and high achievers.

The arts education I got at Tippecanoe, Golda Meir, RMSA, and MHSA has shaped my entire life. Thanks Ms. Abler, Ms. Carlton, Ms. E, Ms. St. Clair, Ms. Upchurch, Ms. Murphy, Ms. Gurn, Mr. Amaya, Mr. Roberts, Ms. Garcia, Ms. Bugni, Ms. Katter, Mr. Rodahl and so many more!!

I <3 MPS because our district offers services to schools that we know our students need. For example, the department of Gender & Identity Inclusion, provides high quality programming or our girls of color and LGBTQ+ students. This is critical for students, families, and the greater MKE community!

I love MPS because of its diversity and the open opportunities. A community that allows you to grow, mentor, educate, and lead not always from the front or a leadership position but from being the example or the culture that you want to be a part of. You can create your own positive environment with words and acts of kindness that you may think go unnoticed but someone will always benefit form your positivity.
