I chose to use a rainbow out. I had a student pass away last week and her favourite colour was rainbow, as she couldn't pick one. My heart has been on her and it felt fitting to use a rainbow for this instead of black.

This was so fast. The words that stood out to me basically jumped off the page. And I was so excited I covered over the "a" in art forms. Hope it still makes sense!

I don't feel like I am an artistic person, so I was a bit nervous about this activity. I ended up really enjoying it though, and I'd like to try this with students at my school.

This took me a few attempts! I am not at all confident in my artistic abilities but I felt a sense of freeness doing this poem. I focussed less on my art and more on my understanding of the text and on what I wanted to say.

I enjoyed this activity and reflected on how arts-based research is inquiry-driven and embraces creative forms of expression. I'm curious to try Blackout Poetry with my students in Taiwan; it could be a memorable way for them to explore language and express meaning through their own word choices!

I don't have a printer at home, so I had to work digitally. This poem both expresses some frustrations I have had recently, and feels too aggressive, so please, readers, do not take it personally. The text lacked some words to contextualize. I also cheated and deleted a section of the text to make it all fit on one page.

I found this task quite difficult to begin with, but was surprised how it came together in the end. I had read through it once as you can see I did highlight a few things of note. However, really tried to reread it just to see which key words/expressions stood out.
