Kenneth Donaldson Was admitted to a Florida hospital and diagnosed as a schizophrenic following a brief court hearing. After being told he would be institutionalized for "a few weeks" he was there for nearly fifteen years. During this time Donaldson was kept in very confined. During this time he also refused electroshock treatment or take medication and claimed to only have received cognitive therapy no more than six times. J.B O'Conner(Assistant clinical director) along with the hospital provided Donaldson with minimal psychiatric treatment. And in 1971 Donaldson charged O'Connor and the hospital with maliciously depriving him of his liberty.
