Anti-sweatshop bevegelser sammenligner slaveri med sweatshop arbeid. Arbeiderne tjener ekstremt lite, de har ikke råd til nok mat, klær eller helsetjenester
De som jobber på fabrikkene som produserer fast fashion blir utsatt for farlige stoffer og risikerer å få livsvarige skader på helsen ettersom at de ikke har på seg riktig utstyr i forhold til hvilke stoffer som de utsettes for.

I tillegg bidrar dette arbeidet til at fattigdommen i verden øker og det forverrer levestandardene i fattige land.
