This article discusses the results of the past year and what the effect has been on Canadians. It contradicts the popular belief that foreign investors are the reason behind these price surges, as merely 5% of the total market is made up of this group. It urges the Ontario government to control the supply of the house market - meaning they should fund the development of more homes and subdivisions to level out the ratio of supply and demand.

While Vancouver is far from the Toronto area, there is a lesson to be learned here, and hopefully many people may check themselves before repeating the same mistake. People are seeing their friends and coworkers making incredible capital from the growth in their home equity, and they want a piece of the action that is happening. However, this interview emphasizes that this rapid growth means it is already too late to earn that sort of capital, and that you run a risk of increasing your mortgage to unsubstantial limits for profits that will not occur. Furthermore, people like these "panic-buyers" play a significant role as to why the prices of increased so drastically.

It still does not look good for the GTA, but it does show signs of improvement. Across the board, there will be a projected decrease in demand for homes as customers simply can no longer afford the stupendously high prices of the home, no matter how much the bank will give you or how low the interest rate. This decrease in demand will slowly wear away on the prices of the homes. Unfortunately, this has only an impact in other areas of Canada such as Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec as the supply for the homes in Ontario is still pretty small. However, with some supply control as previously suggested, we could see a decline in prices over the next couple years. The Ontario Liberal Government will actually be releasing a plan to counter these prices very soon.
