         <description><![CDATA[<div>Darren - I believe learners are over-reliant on tutors in meeting the Health and Social Care syllabus requirements and that this restricted the range of learning styles and methodologies that students used. I am initiating action research to develop teaching and learning aimed to support students in: 1) improving their understanding of Health and Social Care; 2) developing the confidence to take more responsibility for managing their learning;• 3) developing resilience and determination to persevere when learning is difficult; and 4) their effectiveness as  team members; and  their  powers of critical analysis and problem solving. Upon starting a new topic, I will take a baseline assessment to gauge the learner’s current understanding. With one group I will deliver a more traditional, didactic teaching approach. In the other groups, I will create a more independent learning environment and assign groups of learners a different area of the topic they are studying. I will then administer a post-session assessment to measure which group learned more effectively.</div>]]></description>
