The melting of Arctic and Antarctic ice, stronger and frequent typhoons, as well as floods and droughts due to varying weather patterns, resulting in more extinction of wildlifes. These are only some of the manifestations that we, humans, are failing to obligate our ethical responsibilities as a protector of our environment. We must actively listen to the warnings given by climate scientists and recall that environmental protection is necessary for the survival of every species because it would be difficult to bear, especially for those who are most vulnerable (FEU Academics, 2020).

The Earth is already suffering from climate change, and climate scientists have already warned the nation that humans need to change how things evolve around all of us (UN.org, 2018). Its scope includes all consumers of plastic, and all non renewable products, and mostly, the producers.

Tricia: Producers such as the big corporations should take responsibility for making a big step in innovating and lessening the usage of fossil fuels, and they should not pass the burden to the consumers by conditioning them to use products they labeled as an alternative solution. Technology develops every single year, thus, improving the machineries that big factories use does not go with how it evolve; Their estimated lifespan is 6,9, and 26 years (Erumban, n.d) and with the given time, they are still using harmful substances that adds up to the harmful climate change that causing too much damage to us.

Becca: Also, recently there are groups of scientists who have protested around the world. Scientist Rebellion, started in the year 2020, and with what they are trying to inform everyone that humankind doesn't have enough time until everything goes worse (Osborne, 2022).

Joana: Aside from that, places that are blessed to have mountains should not engage with quarrying. Humans are just making the situation even worse. There is even a petition to stop the quarrying, in Rodriguez, Rizal (Change.org, 2019). Because the LGU approved the quarrying action of mountains and as a consequence, disasters such as super typhoon Rolly, and typhoon Ulysses, caused a huge flood along the city (Elriz, 2020).

Virnhet: We, as the consumers of fossil fuels and as individuals who support companies that produce them, are part of the problem (FEU Academics, 2020). To delay or eradicate the possibility of the predicted catastrophic warming of the globe, we must be able to seek more sustainable alternatives such as opting for solar power, hydro power, and other power alternatives, and using public transportation instead of owning and driving cars (Small, 2017). We could also help eradicate this possibility by seeking climate justice and taking part actively in efforts to diminish the use of fossil fuels in our community.

Tricia: The reason for the intensified warming of the world is the excessive use and burning of fossil fuels done by large private companies (Covert, et al., 2016). As mentioned, we must hold them accountable for what they are doing to the planet and to do that, private companies must remove their investment from fossil fuels and seek better alternative solutions that are cost-efficient and environment friendly (FEU Academics, 2020)..

Becca: I believe that we all agree from this short dialogue that in general, fossil fuels are one of the key contributors of the ongoing climate change. Although fossil fuels have aided us humans in making our lives more convenient, it is evident that they have more negative consequences that are detrimental for both us and the environment. As the learnings from the module's topic said, it infringes on the people's most basic human rights, and this includes our right to live in a world with climate justice (FEU Academics, 2020).

Joana: As humans, we’re also responsible for the continuous use of fossil fuels, and other harmful practices. It is beneficial and convenient to us today, but it may eventually lead to the worst-case scenario: the extinction of all living things. With recent increases in gas prices, it is a sign that we need to make a lifestyle shift right now. Let us take steps that encourage the improvement of our mother planet. In this case, we can begin to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Because “a world without fossil fuels is possible''.
