My family and I once visited the island of Palawan. At first I was hesitant since it was really far from the place that I live. It was a funny story because I couldn’t disagree because they already bought the ticket the day before they told me 🤣. So we went to Palawan and it really mesmerized me. Palawan is truly beautiful. We explored various types of islands, lake, beach, and falls there. The accommodation of the staffs of the place that we stayed was also superb. I would want to visit Palawan again if there would be a chance. Palawan is truly peaceful. The 12 days I spent there will forever be in my core memories.

Cebu City, a vibrant hub in the heart of the Visayas, offered our family from Mindanao a captivating blend of history and modernity. We explored the historic Fort San Pedro, its ancient walls whispering tales of Spanish colonial times, then strolled through the bustling Carbon Market, a sensory explosion of sights, sounds, and smells. The serene beauty of Magellan's Cross and the Basilica del Santo Niño provided a peaceful counterpoint to the city's energetic pulse. Cebu City left an memorable mark on our family, a testament to the rich culture and warm hospitality of the Visayas.

Travelogue: A Day at Kawasan Falls, Badian, Cebu

Introduction

Nestled in the lush greenery of Badian, Cebu, Kawasan Falls is a breathtaking natural wonder that promises an unforgettable experience. My journey to this enchanting destination was filled with excitement and anticipation, as I had heard countless stories about its turquoise waters and stunning cascades. This travelogue recounts my adventure to Kawasan Falls, capturing the beauty, thrill, and serenity of this remarkable place.

Getting There

The journey to Kawasan Falls began early in the morning. I set off from Cebu City, taking a scenic two-hour drive through winding roads and picturesque landscapes. The vibrant green hills and the occasional glimpse of the ocean made the trip enjoyable. Upon arriving in Badian, I parked my vehicle and made my way to the entrance of Kawasan Falls, where the sound of rushing water greeted me.

First Impressions

As I entered the park, I was immediately struck by the beauty surrounding me. The air was fresh, filled with the scent of damp earth and foliage. The sound of the falls grew louder as I approached, creating a sense of excitement. The path leading to the falls was well-maintained, lined with tropical plants and trees that provided shade from the sun. I could see other visitors, some taking photos, while others were already enjoying the cool waters.

The Falls

Upon reaching the first level of Kawasan Falls, I was mesmerized by the sight before me. The water cascaded down the rocks, creating a stunning display of nature's power. The vibrant blue color of the water was unlike anything I had ever seen, inviting me to take a dip. I quickly changed into my swimwear and waded into the refreshing water. The coolness was invigorating, and I felt all my worries wash away.

Adventure Activities

Kawasan Falls is not just about relaxation; it also offers thrilling activities for adventure seekers. I decided to try canyoneering, a popular activity in the area. Guided by experienced instructors, I navigated through the river, jumping off cliffs and swimming through natural pools. The adrenaline rush was exhilarating, and the stunning views of the falls from different angles made the experience even more memorable.

Lunch Break

After an action-packed morning, I took a break to enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the local eateries nearby. I savored traditional Filipino dishes, including grilled fish and fresh fruits, while soaking in the serene atmosphere. The sound of the falls in the background added to the charm of the meal.

Exploring Further

Feeling recharged, I decided to explore the upper levels of Kawasan Falls. The hike was a bit challenging, but the reward was worth it. Each level had its own unique beauty, with the water becoming more vibrant and the surroundings more tranquil. I found a quiet spot to sit and reflect, taking in the beauty of nature and the soothing sound of the water.

Conclusion

As the day came to an end, I reluctantly made my way back, my heart full of memories from this incredible adventure. Kawasan Falls in Badian, Cebu, is a true gem that offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. The experience left me with a deeper appreciation for nature and a desire to return.

We celebrated my mother’s birthday at Ocean Pearl Resort in Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu. It was a joyful gathering with my whole family, some of my friends, my mother’s co-workers, and even more people close to us. The resort wasn’t the typical white-sand beach, but it didn’t matter, the laughter and good vibes made the place feel warm and full of life.

We swam, sang karaoke, shared delicious food, and created moments we’ll never forget. The air was filled with stories, music, and celebration. Seeing my mom happy surrounded by people who love her made it all worth it.

Write me if you didn’t forget me, because I’ll always remember that special day by the sea.

It was Mother’s Day in 2017 when we decided to take a trip to Sirao Garden, famously known as the “Little Amsterdam” of Cebu. It was a surprise plan made by my aunt, and she invited my mom, cousins, and me to spend the day somewhere refreshing and new. I remember waking up early, excited for the road trip and the chance to see something different.

The drive going up to the highlands of Busay was already a treat. As we left the busy city streets, the air became cooler and the surroundings greener. After a few twists and turns on the mountain road, we finally arrived at Sirao Garden. The entrance itself already gave us a glimpse of the colorful adventure ahead.

Once we entered, I was amazed by the sea of bright flowers. The celosia flowers were in full bloom—red, yellow, and orange waves stretching as far as my eyes could see. It was like stepping into a fairytale garden. There were also lovely photo spots, including a wooden windmill, giant hands, and swings, which made the place feel even more magical. We spent a lot of time taking pictures, posing in every corner, and capturing every laugh.

My cousins and I enjoyed exploring every path in the garden, while my mom and aunt sat on a bench nearby, chatting and enjoying the view. We brought light snacks, so we found a shaded area and had a small picnic. It wasn’t a grand meal, but it was filled with smiles and stories. Everyone was happy and relaxed.

What made that day special wasn’t just the flowers or the view—it was the feeling of being with family, celebrating the most important women in our lives in a peaceful and beautiful place. Looking back, our visit to Sirao Garden in 2017 was more than just a trip. It was a memory we made together, one I’ll always carry with me.
