Bee Supplier To Almond Farmers

Stake: Pollination is fundamental for crop production. Beekeepers earn millions of dollars from providing the farmers with bees to pollinate the crops. The beekeepers and the almond farmers cannot exist without each other.
Beekeepers have the power to set the condition for the farmers. They have the power to make the farmers quit the use of pesticides and other harmful substances that have been killing the colonies.
The position of the bee keepers lean more to the neutral side. Although they can be very positive when it comes to the financial aspects.

Framing:
Spin, Salience, Selection
The bee keepers have chosen to only focus on how much the bees pollinating the crops helps in produce which equals huge sums of money.

Words like “blossom, luckily, healthy, certain, have not noticed any bad effect “ were used to make the situation look positive. The choice of words creates the impression that they are very careful which famers they provide the bees to. They frame the situation to look like they only provide to farmers who don’t harm bees with pesticides.

The bees are framed to look healthy and in safe hands of the farmers
Narratives:
The beekeepers are the helpers and the donors.

NGOs involved in Almond Farming in California

Stake: The almonds are currently damaging the environment of California because of the way in which they are being produced. The NGOs are concerned about the environment of California and therefore are interested in the production process to see if it can be more sustainable.
Framing: Spin, Salience, Selection
The NGOs decide to talk about how certain aspects of the water usage can be improved and almost entirely select negatives that can be improved to improve their image. Also mentioning ''on the verge of statewide cutbacks'' is a certain selection of words to strengthen the rest of the sentence. Salience is being used by using the words age-old method.
Narratives: Villains: differ on the NGO you were to pick, mainly the farmers who don't use the right way of water attaining. There is no real hero in the version of the NGOs.
Source of conflict: The fact that the almonds where always distributed in a way when the environment allowed it to be like that, and now they continue that way and it has become financial vs environmental and the NGOs feel like that is the source of conflict.

Stake:
The population of CA is directly confronted with requirements of almond production due to their geographical proximity, and therefore affected by their consequences. Facing the problematic nature of drought along with water scarcity they are concerned of their welfare in terms of water access.
Spin and salience:
"(...) so that one day there is real water to use on behalf of the population and not just paper water"
Selection:
The population puts emphasis on complaining about the environmental impact and how they have to suffer under it.
Narratives:
They want to be seen as a victim in this issue powerless against the big players as a socially underprivileged group. The water issue is framed as the state puts more priority on watering the plants than providing them access to this scarce resource in order to neglect their welfare
Villain: state government regulating water trade and agricultural policy
