Divergent series

I spent my quarantine and summer reading a 4 part series named "Divergent". It was a very well written book, with many twists and turns, and for sure a tear jerker. But the ending had me at a loss for words. The novels consist of a young 16 year old girl named Tris (Beatrice) Prior, and how she has to pick in between 5 different fractions; Abnegation, Candor, Erudite, Amity and Dauntless. There's a aptitude test that helps you choose which one fits you like a glove, but Tris displays equal aptitude for Abnegation, Dauntless and Erudite, which means she's Divergent. This rare occurrence makes her life just a little more difficult. When she picks Dauntless, she learns that she will have to fight to stay alive. I wont spoil much more, but the ending, which was technically in the third novel (which i'll talk about later) had me very stunned. Tris, the main character, after being in many life threatening situations, which includes jumping off buildings, going against the government, escaping the fractions, etc, but spoiler alert, dies after getting shot by a gun, for no reason. The story could of ended so well in many different ways but the author decided to do that. The thing that made it more frustrating was the fourth and final book was front the pov of her lover, and his thoughts and situations before and after he met and fell in love with her. It definitely brought me to the point of tears, from frustration and sadness.

The fever king

I haven't started reading The Fever King yet, but i had the chance to read the theme of the book. It's about a refugee teenager and his father and how they just moved to a new city. But a disease spreads (which, in a quick explanation, it's a build up of energy that will kill you). His father dies, but he's one of the only peoples whom their body can handle this type of "energy". He learns about how he's more gifted than others and could help stop the disease from spreading any more, but he must go against the government, who is also the people who are teaching him how to use and find his hidden powers. I'm excited to read this novel, but i'm already reading another novel at the moment so it'll have to wait.

Recently I've read in a article that the president of the United States of America has gotten Covid19, which I could care less about, since i'm a proud Canadian and would never want to hear anything about him. But I've heard he might be faking it. Let me give you a run down, if he were to "fake it", he could pretend to be over it after 2 weeks and tell everyone about how his lungs are "perfectly fine and not harmed at all", as he's said before that this virus isn't "real" and "does no damage to your body whatsoever". It could also maybe help his campaign for presidency. But, I'm almost 100% sure he's too incompetent to think of a idea like that, but we'll have to wait and see.

The marrow thieves

The marrow thieves is a novel i've been reading lately as it is the class novel we’re reading right now. It definitely has a lot going on in it and i’ll dive into what i know as of now about it. The writer brings to life genocide and how it affects people of many groups by creating her own fictional genocide against indiens to show us how that certain group feels when they get targeted as such. It’s interesting to me how she wrote it because i’m used to hearing the side of the « bad people » because they want us all to think it’s not a genocide and nothings going on. They normally shut out the voices of the people who are affected. But, this whole novel is written by the point of view of the main character, who is on the side of the affected. The character in this novel that intrigues me the most is Rose, and i’ll explain why that is. She seems to have many sides to her, as she can be open and vulnerable (when she’s telling french about her past), loving (when she takes care of the young ones) and agressive when needed (when anything has to do with the schools). She has a very mixed personality and i’m interested in how she’ll develop later on in the novel.

Recently i’ve rewatched the parent trap, and it still keeps me anticipating every move. But one thing that I think is really cool is that it’s about twins, which if you didn’t know, i’m a twin, which makes this movie extra personal to me because, like them, I have my twin to go back to.
