Monday: Practiced Gauntlet mainly. I specifically looked at measure 10,29-31. In measure 10, I noticed that I would get confused with finger placement. Specifically, the the f because, it is a natural and is second finger not third. To adhere to this, I practiced this measure multiple times. For measures 29-31, there were multiple problems. In measure 29 and 30, I kept playing quarter notes, when they were eight notes. To fix this, I played this measure alone about 10 times and tried hitting the directed tempo and notes. I also focused on my bowing, by making sure to stay consistent with the directed movements. For measure 31, I was having trouble extending. To fix this, I looked back into Book 2 to see the picture of finger placements. Then I practiced that measure multiple times, with the correct extension.

Tuesday: I practiced Gauntlet prominently and Perpetual Fiddle Motion. I specifically focused on measures 48-50. I noticed that I usually overlooked the rests and was also slacking on my bowing. To fix this, I began paying counting the beats out loud, so I'd make sure to hit the rests. To aid to my bowing, I really payed attention to the directed bowing, and played the measures multiple times, while paying attention to the bowing. I also practiced Perpetual Fiddle Motion. I played the first page of the song once all the way through to see where I needed work. I pinpointed measure 1 and 14. For measure 1, I noticed that I would get confused with my, finger placement because. To fix this I kept repeating those two notes multiple times, so that I would get the hang of it. For measure 14, I was getting tripped up with different types of notes and their beats. In this measure there are both quarter notes and eighth notes. To fix this, I sectioned the measure off, from the quarter notes and eight notes, initially. Once I got the hang of it, I played them together.

Wednesday: I practiced Perpetual Fiddle Motion. I went through the whole piece once and then by designated section to focus on specific measures. I noticed that I struggled with measures 45, 64-67. With measure 45, I noticed a couple problems. 1) I was not paying attention to the rest. 2) The slur tripped me up, because I was switching between two strings. 3) My bowing became off due to my mistakes. To fix the problem with the slur, I continuously practiced just switching between those two notes (D and B). After awhile, I got the hang of it and then I focused on the correct bowing. however, with knowing how to correctly do the slur, the bowing pretty much fixed itself. To hit the rest correctly, I began counting out loud, which helped with hitting the correct beats. For measures 65-67, I noticed that I was having trouble with hitting slurs and maintaining the correct bowing. I noticed that I tend to retake and in those measures, there are no retakes. So to fix this bad habit, I practiced measure by measure and paid close to slurring all of them and not retaking.

Friday: I practiced Gauntlet and Jupiter. For Gauntlet, I specifically worked on measures 65-66.. For measure 65-66, I was running out of bow because in that measure there are four notes being slurred. To fix this I practiced them individually. In measure 65, I began at an up bow (as directed) and made sure to start near the tip of the bow, so that I wouldn't run out. I did the same with practicing measure 66 but started at a down bow. I also practiced Jupiter. I noticed I was having a lot of trouble with measure16- 19. To fix this, I practiced each measure at a time. I intently watched my bowing, making sure I would slur. Then I began to try to play it faster again paying attention that my bowing was still correct.  

Monday: Practiced Jupiter and Scales.For Jupiter, I went through the whole the bottom half of the piece (starting at 47 to the end )once and pinpointed measures 66-67 and 59. In measures 66 , I was having trouble with the slurs and the descending notes. I tended to get confused with my bowing and not slurring. To fix this, I played all three slurs separately a couple times, and then played them all together. The problems I had with measure 67 were that, initially since I was not hitting the slurs,so when I got to 67, it became more messy. So since I fixed the slurs in 66, 67 also got better. In measure 59, I was having trouble with hitting the notes C and the E because they were in different strings. To fix this, I repeatedly just played those two notes to get my fingers kind of used to it, and then added the slur. I also practiced scales C major (Upper Octave) and C major ( Lower Octave). The Lower Octave was easier, had no problems. The Upper Octave, I at times got tripped up with the speed and the shifting. To help, I played the second measure slowly, really trying to get the finger placement on the shift right and then gradually built up speed.

Tuesday:  I worked on my scales and Perpetual Fiddle motion. In measures like 76, I had a simple trouble with running out of bow before the count was done. To help, I played the measure before (75) and then made sure that I started 76 closer to the frog and played the whole bow.In measure 102, I had trouble expressig the the amount of beats counts depedning on the note. To fix this,I wrote out how much the note was worth on the bottom of the stanza and counted out loud. I also worked on my scales. I worked on my G major (Upper Octave) and G Major (Lower Octave). The Lower Octave was fairly easy. Occassionaly, In measure 5, I would mix up the B with a C, but they were minor mistakes. For the Upper Octave, I practiced shifting by first just switching into shifts and then gradually building speed.

Thursday: I worked on Gauntlet mainly. I measure 98, I was having multiple troubles; one being that I knew the notes but was not hitting them at a faster tempo. I was also, initially playing them as quarter notes instead of eighth notes. To fix this, I first concentrated on my bowing and making sure I was hitting the correct amount of beats per note. I repeatedly did this, until I got used to it and then began focusing on speeding up. I gradually sped up, trying to keep the bowing, correct.

Monday: I practiced Jupiter and Perpetual Fiddle Motion.In Jupiter I practiced 19,and 40. In measure 19, I noticed that I was playing C natural instead of C sharp. I wrote in the finger number at the bottom of the page to remind me to play that note. In measure 40, I had to practice my extended position because, the cello tends to make a squeaky kind of sound when I switch between strings fast. To practice, I practiced just switching between extended and normal positions; then I gradually tried to build up speed. I laos practiced Perpetual Fiddle Motion. I noticed that I had troubled with measure 110. To practice, I counted the beats out loud a couple times and simply did the bow motion with my hands and did not play. Then I played it and I made sure that there was emphasis where there are accents.

Tuesday: I practiced Gauntlet. I practiced measure 98-99,and 101. In measure 98-99, I noticed that because of the fast temp at this point in the piece, I tend to get lost and get notes wrong along with incorrect bowing. To practice, I figured that I should play the correct notes and maintain correct bowing at a slow pace. By doing this, I would basically get the hang of the finger placement, so when the tempo would increase, I’d know the correct finger placement with the notes.  In measure 101 I usually struggle with slurring the F on the D string and the C on the G string. To help practice this, I first just put my fingers in place for the desired note and then just practice switching between notes. I did this continuously then I added the bow.

Wednesday: I practiced Perpetual Fiddle motion. I practiced measures 61-62, and 65. For measure 61-62, I noticed a couple problems; 1) I was not playing resting when i should and then I was not playing the type of note. To fix this, I acknowledged the rest and made sure to count the rest. To make sure I played the specific type of note, I just played the note slowly and played the designated tempo, and then played faster As I got the tempo down. For measure 65, I practiced specifically the slur between B and G. I was having trouble switching strings between the A string and D string. To fix this, I simply just kept practicing playing those two notes and then added the slur.

Thursday: I practiced Jupiter. I saw that I was having trouble playing 17,59,66-67.In measure 17, I saw that I was having trouble with playing the B on the A string and the E on the D strong. I was having trouble getting my fingers in their correct positions since every time I switched  y finger placement was usually off. To prevent this, I practiced the switching motion without looking so when I'd play the piece, my finger would already know in what position it would be correctly placed.  For measure 59, I was also having trouble with switching strings and finger placement, and I tried the same tactic. For measures 66-67, I was having trouble keeping up with the tempo and hitting the correct notes while slurring. To practice, I played each note without slurring. Then, I went through the measures individually and I made sure to slur each eighth note correctly. After this I tried it with the faster tempo till I got better.

Friday: I practiced Gauntlet and Jupiter. While practicing Gauntlet, I focused on measures 49-50. For measure 49 i was having trouble counting the rest. For measure 50, I practiced extending my index finger all the way back to get to b natural. I practiced this, by simply playing the measure multiple times.While practicing Jupiter, I focused one measures 33, 40-41. For measure 33 I practiced specifically the switch in strings due to playing note b on the a string and g on the the d string. I usually hear a screechy sound when I switch the stings,so I figured I needed to place more pressure when I played the note. For measure 40-41 I practiced the extended position and trying to maintain the correct tempo. To do this I practiced the measure multiple times and I practiced switching positions at a fast pace.
