Possible Solutions (Step 3)

Virtual platforms will allow for efficient meetings on-the-go for workers at Waking UP. There are many possible virtual platforms to use, but I would recommend choosing one option that allows for video conferencing, and another that allows for typing and sharing information quickly.

Best Solutions (Step 4)

I would suggest using Facebook and Skype. Skype would be best for video conference calls. More in-depth and intense situations should be done over this platform. Allowing body language and tone of voice to be heard. Facebook is better for typing and keeping everyone in the loop. You can easily share events, information, and new clients on Facebook. I would also recommend using Facebook as a platform to gain more customers. People can leave reviews, ratings, and questions on the buisness' Facebook page. This would be a great way to expand the communication past a small group and let customers be apart of building the brand/help they want to receive while at Waking UP.

Analyze the Problem (Step 2)

This is a serious problem. It keeps business from flowing easily ($$$), it keeps workers from efficiently doing their job to their full potential, and it keeps workers in meetings rather than with their clients- who are the real priority in this business. This problem can cause poor reviews and ratings, bad customer service, and dissatisfied workers. Through the cause and effect fishbone (Beebe & Masterson, 2006, p. 266) dissatisfied workers will effect the clients and their experience at Waking UP. The clients are the real priority in this business and it is important that they are taken care of as such.

Identify the Problem (Step 1)

The problem that Waking UP is having currently is they are missing out on an opportunity to get more work done, and be more efficient with their work. Waking UP is currently bogging down its team with the amount of face-to-face meetings that are happening. Virtual platforms are online programs designed for small groups to communicate. These platforms are usually right at your fingertips, and user-friendly.

Test and Implement (Step 5)

There is a time and a place for in-person meetings, and those should still happen regularly since the value of face-to-face is great. However, virtual meetings could really let the employees on Waking UP, themselves, to feel more rejuvenated at work. When workers feel like they are able to get their work done, and do quality work, their good moods will filter into their clients.

I would suggest implementing Skype and Facebook over the next month, along with a face-to-face meeting once a week. See what kind of progress is made. I would bet there will be more quality work completed, and happier employees and customers. Workers will need to keep the goal of being efficient and keep the clients needs as priority in order for this plan to work out. Devices such as ipads, laptops, or phones will need to be distributed for the use of business. Meetings on a virtual platform should be no more than 30 minutes, and in-person meetings should be no more than an hour. This means there should be less chit-chatting and more working in these meetings to maximize the time.

Hello! My name is David Lawlor. I am a student at Rio Salado Community College, currently enrolled in a Small Group Communications class.
I would like to let you all know about an opportunity that you have to work together on a virtual platform. This should allow for more work to be accomplished, more time for you to work away from the office when needed, and better customer service for your clients. This presentation is made to walk you through why we are doing this, and which virtual platforms Waking UP will be implementing in the future- Facebook and Skype.

We can meet back in a month to see if customer satisfaction has gone up, and check on worker satisfaction as well. Along with this, we should see an increase of clients, therefore an increase in profits. We should track all these things over the next month to see if there is improvement. I am confident there will be.
