She said 'Well mol, you can't get much lower than this'. It's turning hard moments like this into funny ones that make the difference. I never wanted to be babied or treated like a patient, she treated me like a human being and I don't know if I could have got through the hellish experience without her. She made it not only bearable but genuinely humorous at times."

During the launch of the Nutrition Mission a new Nutrition and Hydration Accreditation framework was introduced.

This framework for accreditation aims to support wards and departments on their journey to providing outstanding nutrition and hydration to their patients. The framework encourages wards to tackle barriers when providing every patient with outstanding nutritional and hydration care, through collaborative working, quality improvement, leadership, and action. Through the embedding of the accreditation program wards will be empowered to act in their areas, which will lead to creating meaningful and measurable changes within nutrition and hydration care at LTHT.

With the integration of the new Datix questions, the need for 'Stop the Line' for falls will be a thing of the past. Instead, our updated Post Fall Proforma will embrace the patient voice, empowering us to better understand their experiences and preferences post fall.

Not stopping there, our Post Fall Proforma is fully aligned with the latest NICE guidelines, ensuring comprehensive support for clinical examinations and injury identification. Say goodbye to unnecessary paperwork! The streamlined Datix system will provide quick access to crucial information without the hassle.

Plus our Digital IT team is diligently working towards digitalising the post fall proforma, eliminating the need for repetitive document uploads. This efficient transition promises smoother workflows and improved efficiency.

An extra session is now planned for the above titled workshop after an overwhelming  response to the November 2023 session. This workshop  will be delivered by both the Patient, Carer and Public Involvement team and Public Health team. The session will enable participants to contribute to the emerging Patient, Carer and Public Involvement Strategy focussing on: 

1. CORE20PLUS5- Understanding our population and the challenge of inclusive involvement- Charlotte Orton: Public Health Specialist Programme Manager. 

2. Equality Impact Assessments- An opportunity to drive change and Improvement- Rosie Horsman: Lead Nurse PCPI. 

3. Inclusive Approaches: Meeting our legal duty to involve people and communities in decision making and service improvement- Scott Cunningham: Deputy Patient, Carer and Public Involvement Manager.

Inpatient response rates show Leeds as coming out on top compared to our peer Trusts. Our Outpatient response was at number 12 but unlike other Trusts we have a cap on the number of texts that we send. The FFT team is working with Outpatients to improve their response rates.

Trends & Themes

Between September 2022 and September 2023, the number of FFT themed responses for the Trust as a whole had remained the same at 10%. Positive responses had increased by 2% and there was a reduction in negative responses for most themes.
