People of New York can only wait in shelters and help other people with rescue boats. At the begining of the floods, some New York citizens got trapped in the subway, 6 people died and more than 10 people injured.

Many hospitals were completely demolished by the water. The waves would smash everything that was in the way.Some people had to evacuate to higher levels of the building.
Houses were destroyed,all work and school was stopped .Normal citizens life was completely cut, they had to stay where they were for days.
