In the 1800s, Santa Fe became the ending of the Santa Fe trail which runs from Independence, Missouri to Santa Fe. When this happened, it made Santa Fe a major place for trading and market for traveling supplies. As well as becoming a big trading place for Santa Fe travelers, it also was a big trading place for all of Northern New Mexico. All of this made more settlers come and settle west and it made Santa Fe a major city.

One of the biggest railways was the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. In the nineteenth century the Santa Fe trail was a big way of transportaion. It was like a highway and helped to get products to other cities and states. It connected Independence, Missouri and Santa Fe, New Mexico. The El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail carried up trade from Mexico and made it easy for Santa Fe to transport goods and supplies. The Santa Fe river is a river that connects to the Rio Grande. It supplies a lot of water to the city. These are all ways that people chipped/transported products nd supplies to other cities and towns. Santa Fe became a major center for inustrialazation because it was easy for them to ship/transport products to other places.

The 1912 Plan - In 1912, Santa Fe city civic leaders made a plan for movements historic preservation, the City Beautiful movement, and city planning. This plan was made to help keep the city beautiful and expect city growth and help preserve historic things.
Japanese American Internment Camp - In June of 1942, 886 Japanese-American men were arrested to be brought to a Japanese American Internment camp in Santa Fe after Pearl Harbor. They were brought there because they were on suspicion of fifth column activity. Which means they were a group of people going to do something for a larger group of people. By September, all the prisoned men had been transferred to other camps and that camp in Santa Fe was going to be used for other people.
Santa Fe Trail - As explained earlier, the Santa Fe trail is a trail that runs from Independence, Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico and it became a major area for trading traveling supplies and brought settlers to that area and helped expand the growth of Santa Fe.
