Marsh (2010) examines the suicidal trend from a historical and cultural perspective and how these perspectives have influenced the modern thought, practices and laws applied in the management of suicide. Using the work Michel Foucault, a philosopher from France, Marsh (2010) explains how suicide is currently the most significant concerns of all psychiatric issues. The author therefore challenges beliefs, assumptions and theories on suicide and hence establishes the ground for further investigation of suicide.

Douglas (2015) discusses suicide especially in the context of sociological and cultural settings which give different perceptions on suicide. the author emphasizes that suicide has been a Western idea but is currently being accepted in other countries as a significant mental health problem the Old her father criticizes the different theories in existence that describe suicide and provides an avenue for the development of theories in the treatment of suicide related cases and the improvement of mental health well-being.

Kim et al (2016) Highlight how far the concept of suicide has developed to a point that it applied in hospitals as a way to help patients and their life with dignity. In a study in Netherlands that describe the characteristics of patients receiving assisted suicide,  the authors discuss the jurisdiction parameters that enable the controversial practice in Belgium and Netherlands. The study by Kim et al (2016) highlights a very  novel and conflicting position that has dire implications on mental health  and the challenge of actual suicide.

Connor and Nock  (2014) discuss the issue of suicide as a significant mental health concern that affects a large number of people and contributes to human mortality in the globe. The authors further highlight the discussion on the causes of suicide and the theories behind these suicidal behaviors. Connor and Nock (2014) highlight that the problems faced by different individuals may not be the actual reasons that make them commit suicide. The discussion also notes that most suicide cases are never identified until it are too late hence making it necessary to come up with psychological and psychosocial treatments that are innovative in nature. 

5.Hinduja, S., & Patching, J. W. (2010). Bullying, cyberbullying, and suicide. Archives of suicide ‘ research, 14(3), 206-221.

Hinduja and Patch-in (2010) discuss the growing trend of bullying and cyberbullying which is not only a risk factor to children and teenagers but currently among adults.  Using a study on peer aggression the authors carry out a survey on middle school children who experience conventional bullying and bullying over the internet. The study surmises that both the victims and the offenders of bullying are susceptible to suicidal ideas. The authors further insist that all forms of bullying should be treated with grave consideration.
