The exposition in Out of My Mind was when Melody was explaining her story leading up to the current time in the book. The rising action was when Melody tried out for a team of competitive students, and makes the team. The conflict in the book was when Melody goes to competition in Washington D.C, but gets left there alone. The resolution was when her teammates apologize, and she forgives them.

The main events of the book were when Melody was able to begin working in the main classrooms, and got to interact in a "normal" class procedure. Secondly, Melody got the idea to purchase a computer that allowed her to speak out loud through it. Thirdly, was when Melody worked hard to study for the Whiz Kidz team, and ended up getting the best score/ going to Washington D.C.

I can connect Out of My Mind to the book Wonder, because now that I have read both books I have two perspectives. Auggie in Wonder too has a disability with his facial structures, and too goes to school unhappy/nervous. The two can relate by how no one really sees their hidden personalities until they get to know them.

Although I enjoyed reading Out of My Mind, I did have questions on how the main character, Melody, had dealt with the restrictions of her disability. I think about how if I were in her position I would potentially not have as much of a positive attitude as she showed throughout the book.
