Logistics is generally the detailed organization and implementation of a complex operation. In a general business sense, logistics is the management of the flow of things between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet requirements of customers or corporations

The goal of logistics is to meet customer requirements in a timely, cost effective manner for the purpose of customers requirement. 

 

Logistics refers to what happens within one company, including the purchase and delivery of raw materials, packaging, shipment, and transportation of goods to distributors, for example. While supply chain management refers to a larger network of outside organizations that work together to deliver products to customers, including vendors, transportation providers, call centers, warehouse providers, and others.

The management of logistics can involve some or all of the following business functions, including:

·         Fleet management

·         Warehousing

·         Materials handling

·         Order fulfillment

·         Inventory management

·         Demand planning

There are several activity under logistic which is transportation, material handling , facility structure, inventory and information and communication.

iii) Dwell Time
