         <description><![CDATA[<p><br></p><p>He was born 1902 and died 1967 so he lived throughout that time period. He was known for his influential poetry, essays, and short stories. His work often highlighted the African American's life and struggle for racial equality. His style for writing combined jazz rhythms with lyrical expressions. Some of his work is known, like the "The weary blues," Langston Hughes: The collected poems," lastly "The big sea." He was also an active advocate for civil rights who used their writing to address social and political issues. What influenced his writing was African American culture, Jazz music, and his own experiences of racial injustice. His view of Harlem's bright cultural scene and his travels through the American south, shaped the way he wrote and his perspective.  Lucas &amp; Jayden</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>He died on May 22, 1967, He was 66.</p><p>He was never married and had no children. He died in surgery, and he had prostate cancer. He went to Colombia and studied engineering and chemistry because his farther wanted him to study more lucrative then writing. He was determined to be a writer so he moved to Harlem/black neighborhood and started his career. The poems in the books are inspired by the black musical forms of jazz and the blues, and the book as a whole explores the experiences, culture, and racial consciousness of the community of Harlem. He first poem was when he was 17, he was crossing the Mississippi river on him way to Mexico. </p>]]></description>
