Selena has always shown a passion for helping others, especially animals. She had an unbelievably generous heart, and dedicated her studies to serving those that could not help themselves. Selena will forever be remembered for her selflessness, amazingly strong character, and her compassion. Selena was one of the students that as a teacher you pray that you will have in your class, one that you know is destined for a remarkable impact on those around them. Not a day goes by that I do not cherish the opportunity to interact with, mentor and serve my students. Selena was a prime example of the reason I go to work every day. Although I did look forward to seeing her career success, and the beautiful life she had ahead of her, I am oh so grateful to have been a part of her story and to have had her in mine. She wrote this letter to me her senior year as a thank you, but it truly is my honor and pleasure to have been her teacher.

Selena was an awesome and a wonderful friend to everyone around her. She had so much patience working with me and herself. She worked/helped me when I couldn’t work on my own; She was very resilient. She had a strong passion for animals and for others. I’m am sad to see her go. All of my sincere condolences to Selena. But remember we will all see her again. RIH Selena

I didn’t have the chance to know her extremely well in high school but I do know that she was a humorous and really warm person. Selena was a very goofy person, I didn’t know her that well personally, but with the time we spent doing soccer you could tell how nice of a person she was. It was great having such an amazing and beautiful person in the team. May she rest in peace 🤍

Having you in my life was one of the greatest gifts God could’ve gaven me , you were someone I could talk too about anything and everything and you would listen to me no matter what and be there for me no matter what , I could call you and you would answer me no matter where you were or who you were with , I could text you and you would reply right away . We became so close during our Senior Year and made so many memories during that year and became even closer after we graduated high school , we could go days without talking but we always knew we had each other , you became my sister , my bestfriend and everything there is to describe who you were . I’ll miss spending time with you , our phone calls , our funny FaceTime calls , I’ll miss getting your text notifications , I’ll miss your contagious laugh & smile and most importantly I’ll miss your presence in this earth but I know I’ll carry your spirit in me for the rest of my days . I remember meeting Selena in middle school and I'd say it was one of the best things that could've happened to me. Although we weren't that close then, I knew that I wanted to be her friend. Then I got so excited when she came to Madison to finish high school and that's when we finally got the chance to get closer. I remember seeing her every day and my favorite thing about her is that she was always a little weirdo, she would always do the most random things and make me laugh. There was never a dull moment when you were with her and I'm glad that I was able to call her my friend. I never thought that my last time seeing her would've been at our little makeshift graduation ceremony in the student parking lot. I just wish that I could've hung out with her one last time, but I know that Selena's spirit will always live on our hearts. We love you Selena and may you rest in peace.

I am so grateful to have met such a beautiful person inside and outside. Selena you were one of the first friends i ever made in madison. I will never forget you Selena. She was such a happy, beautiful, and admirable person that would make my Spanish class better! She was a very positive person that wouldn’t let no one bring her down and she would always help others with that bright smile she had.
