This book is a great resource that displays Indigenous perspectives and their connection to Country. There are great illustrations about the natural world that can be discussed in terms of textures and colours. It supports children to develop an awareness of the natural world, connect to nature and embrace sustainable practices as a community. This resource is used in Learning Experience 1 in the POP template as an introduction to sustainability and ways we can be more sustainable as a community.

This resources gives great examples of exploring nature and using these natural materials to make a series of artistic sculptures and designs. The way that the natural resources are in patterns and represent a range of ways of doing. This and can be a resource that is shared with children to inspire ideas. This text can be used as inspiration to incorporate sustainable practices within a classroom setting that promotes children's engagement and art learning

'Playing with collage' Jeannie Baker

This resource displays a variety of ways to make a collage inspired by natural resources and materials. There are a range of different patterns and colours to make meaning through the arts. The book is a great resource to share with children and to be inspired by collage in a more sustainable way that reduces waste and the use of processed materials. This book can be shared with children to open discussions about patterns, textures and colours. This was used as a resource in learning experience 4 in the POP template.

Recycled art- Weber

Weber incorporates a range of sculptures in this resource using recycled materials such as boxes. For example, this artist made faces using toilet rolls and shoes using cardboard. This can promote ideas for children to see various ways of doing with a cardboard box, ways in which they can use their imagination to invent their sculpture. This could be use in learning experience 03 if children are unsure and need some inspirations, this can lead to other ideas that children can come up with as it promotes their thinking.

This song is an Indigenous lullaby and can be used to explore beat and rhythm. Children can collect sticks and gum nuts- these can even be used to tap on pots and pans or just tap together. Children observe ways in which natural materials can be used to make the music. This can initiate discussions about sustainability and how nature can provide us with fun experiences, to increase and teach children sustainability awareness. This is the song used in learning experience 02.

This book invites children to think about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples connection to Country. There is a paperback version but I have attached an audio book. It provides rich illustrations of the land on which we live. This can open conversations with children about ways we can take care of the land. Prompt questions such as, How can we use nature in our play and take care of our environment? This can be shown in yarning circles with children to initiate ideas around sustainability, whilst incorporating Indigenous perspectives in your program.

Where the forest meets the sea- Jeannie Baker

This is a book about where the forest meets the sea and displays rich illustrations of the land. lt links to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives of the 'land links'. It teaches children how the land has supported life. This can build upon children's respect and connection to the land as well as looking at illustrations and talking about textures, that they can visually see to support the art language learning. This can be read to children during relaxation time or if you have a projector. Alternatively, a yarning circle would work well too.
