They did this in exchange for legislation which would prohibit slavery for some. North and South were against this because it meant slavery could be happening in more new areas.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Uncle Toms Cabin was a book published by Harriet Beecher Stowe. The story shows the life of a slave and how Tom saves a little girls life and they become friends. The North didn't like the book because they thought it was inaccurate how the book showed slavery. The South agreed with the North and that it was lies and exaggerated.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The fugitive Slave act was to require that slaves have to go back to their owner even if it was a free state. It also made the government responsible for looking for the escaping slaves and returning them. The North and South were against this act because their states were becoming very controlled and they didn't agree with the new laws.</div>]]></description>

It was similar to the Missouri Compromise which is in a previous part. The southerns supported this but some were against. while the North was opposed.</div>]]></description>
