He takes all the girls out, and is soon found out by the girls. How will fox handle all of his love?
Teaching Plan #1: How I look when I'm... There were many emotions throughout the book, including anger (when Fox made Raisin upset), sibling fights, and happiness and love. I want my students to show how they look when they are feeling certain emotions. I will give them print outs of blank faces so they can draw how they think they look when they're feeling different emotions.
http://homeschoolgiveaways.com/2015/03/free-printables-and-activities-on-feelings-and-emotions/
https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Feelings-FREE-Miss-Mac-Attack--2298876
Teaching Idea #2: Emotions Charades. In the book, Fox didn't seem to notice much when he upset Raisin. He never even said sorry! Maybe he didn't know Raisin was upset. Can we read other's emotions by looking at their faces and body language? She gets abandoned by a best friend, has a crush on a boy, and she is undeniably "uncool". How will Jessie make it through her summer?
Teaching Idea #1: Fear in a Hat. Jessie talks about how she is afraid of almost everything. She gets afraid when she gets caught trespassing. This activity is good for older kids; they write their fears down and put them in a hat. Another classmate will read their fear, and then talk about their understanding of the fear. It is a good icebreaker activity.
http://www.icebreakers.ws/medium-group/fear-in-a-hat.html
http://wilderdom.com/games/descriptions/FearInAHat.html
Teaching Idea #2: Discussion. It is important to discuss with teens that friends do not always get along. Maybe some students can share times they've had disagreements with their friends, and how they fixed it, like when Jessie and her best friend, Julie reunited after a fight.
http://www.focusonthefamily.com/parenting/teens/developing-friendships-that-last
http://raisingchildren.net.au/articles/frenemies.html

This song challenges memory. At the end of the song, all of the moves from each verse are combined. Kids love to follow simple instructions like clap your hands, stomp your feet, etc.
Teaching Idea #1: As it is easy to see, this is a lively, fun song for kids to see. Obviously, dancing to this song is a very good warm up or stretch out for kids. It could even be sang and acted out together between activities to allow students to stretch out and focus their minds. The more the song is sang and acted out, the easier the kids will be able to do the combination of moves at the end.
Teaching Idea #2: This website actually shows a different way to sing this song, and it is simplified so that ESL students can learn them easily. It also sings about different emotions other than just happy. http://supersimplelearning.com/songs/original-series/one/if-youre-happy/

This poem encompasses the theme of my text set. Recognizing emotions, and trying your best to display them in safe and healthy ways.
Teaching Idea #1: Again, repetition is good for young children, it helps them remember. Reciting this poem would help remind kids to use their words. Upon the first time reading it together, the class would have a discussion about how important it is to use our words, and the kids could have the chance to share times that they have had to use their words with a friend or sibling. This site talks about how important repetition is. http://www.readingbrightstart.org/articles-for-parents/lets-repetition-important-learning/
Teaching Idea #2: The kids could write their own poems about feelings, or just focus on one feeling.
