When I think of Matilda overall, what comes to mind is school and things that surround a child’s school experience, like parks and play areas, sweets and toys.

I like the outcome if this piece because

With this piece of work I have used pencil, with this media I am impressed with the small details and shading however, though it’s well thought out and put together i would’ve loved to add colour into this piece because it being grey makes it feel unfinished.

For this piece I was inspired by art you would possibly see in children’s books, I have done this by doing simple crosshatching and shading to make it simple but yet detailed so you can make out what the image is I have drawn. Why I did this is is because not only does the tree and the rope swing also tie into the theme of this project but childhood books and looking at all the photos included in the books was interesting as a child.

To further develop this idea I would like to include some colour using water colour or even ink markers along with adding some personality into the background to make it look more alive.

To move forward with this piece i would like to possibly incorporate some colour.

This work reminds me of how a child would take things that you wouldn't think of doing and make it into art which links to the theme of this project being about childhood.

In particular I really like all the different medias combined into this piece along with the bright colours used.

I do however feel as though if I did finish this piece i would probably like the look it it more than I do now with it unfinished because I do feel like it was going somewhere I just didn’t have time to execute my ideas and a lack of materials to create what I was imagining the outcome to be.

I am impressed with how i used all of the different medias to make a cohesive piece.

The research I have done has been generated through a Pinterest board with a wide variety of images I have thought would be great to incorporate into my project that really helped me move forward with my ideas, I however wish I did try and use some primary source material like taking my own photos.

Reflecting on my work definitely helped me move forward with this project, without reflection I think I wouldn’t have any variation of media in the project and would not have stepped out of my comfort zone away from pencil and moved on to something a little bit different. Although I did explore more materials near the end of this project, next time I would like to try and incorporate maybe some digital and also would like to try out clay and some 3D sculpting.
