The purpose behind Adichie's talk, "The Danger of a Single story ", is to inform her audience about the importance of looking at all the stories that someone may have, rather than just a single story. There's always many stories behind a person. When we begin to only look at single stories, stereotypes can be created quickly, and the problem with stereotypes is that they often become a single story instead of showing multiple stories. Single stories emphasize how we are different rather than how we are similar.

In the video, Victor tried to change Thomas's appearance by trying to turn him into a "real' Indian by trying to make him appear more stoic.

The purpose of Nikki Lee's video would be to show that she is an artist who wants to change how people viewed certain groups of people. She created artwork with different layers so that people can understand that there's more to something than just what you see on the outside. Towards the end of the video, she explains that she would like someone to tell her who she is rather than her finding out for herself. The best way to get to know more than a single story, is to experience the place or culture. The people around us influence the way we act.

The main idea of Anzalduas passage is to explain that there are many kinds of borders in everyones identities, such as borders between nations, cultures, classes, genders, and especially languages. In the passage, Anzaldua talks about her own Chicana heritage and the significant role it plays in her life. One of the most common ideas that Anzaldua talks about in her passage is language and the barriers between languages. Anzaldua argues for the ways in which identity is intertwined with the way we speak and the ways in which people can be made to feel ashamed for their own tounges. The author is most likely writing her passage for people who are in a similar situation as her, stuck in border between two different cultures. (Joanne, Citlalli, David, Jacob)

Cherrie Moraga, “You’re Not Really Mexican, Are You?”

The main idea from Cherrie Moraga's video is to show the struggles that she faced as a mixed child. Her sister and her brother were the only mixed kids from her family and growing up, she just wanted to be brown. As a little girl, she recognized the difference in treatment from her classmates. Many of the Mexican kids at her school viewed her as "smarter" because of her mixed heritage and she was often judged for hanging out with the white girls. The video does a good job of showing how many people can be stuck in the border between different cultures which can definitely make you feel like you don't belong anywhere. Cherrie's love was so great for being Mexican but she felt like she was always in the position to betray her culture, especially with her lesbianism. The author is most likely writing her passage for people who are in a similar situation as her, stuck in border between two different cultures.
