It is imperative that schools play a part in the prevention of juvenile crime. It is known that a kids home life will affect their behavior, but if our schools( where they spend just as much time as they do at home during the school year) could teach and solicit good behavior and provide the motivation that may be lacking at home, the child will most likely exhibit better behavior and they would be less likely to commit crimes.

Studies have revealed that using community-based approaches, for example, Minnesota's Heart Health Program, have helped reduced substance abuse in communities. However, further studies have proven both pro and con sides to the community interventions.

In general, these kind of programs require more trust and a more homogenous community so that the true work of preventing delinquency can be accomplished. These kind of programs should target the most homogenous communities, where they will likely be most successful.
