A normal lesson plan usually focuses on teaching the "average" student in a class, with a set objective, activity, and assessment. It might not fully anticipate the wide variety of learning needs, abilities, and preferences students bring. If a student struggles, teachers often add modifications or accommodations afterward.
A UDL (Universal Design for Learning) lesson plan is designed from the start to include flexibility so all students can access and engage with the material, not just the “average.” It’s proactive instead of reactive.

I noticed that I use the same methods in UDL in my current lessons. UDL uses various forms of instructions and tools for one lesson- videos, pictures, etc.

Udl is a function of design, whose focus is to make understanding and or usability as user friendly as possible.

-how much time or preparation it takes for the teacher to design a lesson that anticipates so many different learner needs.

What differentiates a UDL lesson from any other?

-proactive and flexible, it plans for learner variability from the start.

-different engagement choice, relevance, collaboration, motivation strategies.

-choice representation different formats of content like text, audio, visuals, real-world examples.

-options for demonstrating learning in presentations, artwork, written work, digital media, etc.

It was confusing because most of the sample I found didn't focus on one thing directly but more of steps to complete.

This will be an improvement on how my students learn how to write a resume.

The UDL lesson will provide the instruction with multiple modalities. The different methods of instruction will reach students with different learning styles.

What differentiates a UDL lesson from any other?

UDL in it as itself focuses on the design in which learner variability is taken into account. This generally refers to how user friendly might the design be so that the user is able to navigate and understand, with clarity the process of the lesson. The lesson itself is constructed with ease in which the user can achieve or complete tasks according to comfort level.

To this end, UDL is reinforced with Differentiated Instruction. This where content, process and product lie. The UDL makes things clear for the user and DI provides the tools to go from A to B. by providing scaffolding. There is clear objective followed by clear process and the product should reflect learning according to the choices available to reach the end product.
