Georgia uses a runoff system for primary and general elections, which means that if no candidate achieves more than 50% of the vote in the first round, the top two candidates progress to the second round. This system has the potential to influence election strategy and outcomes, as well as voter turnout and involvement. Georgia has a history of political realignment and evolution, hence the state's dominant party and ideology have shifted throughout time. Georgia, for example, was a Democratic bastion for much of the twentieth century before shifting to the Republican Party in the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, Georgia has become more competitive and varied in recent years, with certain urban and suburban areas leaning more Democratic and others remaining more Republican.

Here's how Middle Georgia's political map was redrawn and how it will impact voters (msn.com)

Georgia Republicans approve new map that protects their advantage in state’s congressional delegation (msn.com)
