This painting is by Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1656). She was the most successful female painter of the Italian Baroque period.The plot of the painting is taken from the famous story in the Bible. Judith, a widow from the city of Bethulia, steps forward in the war and disguises herself as an informer with her maid. They sneak into the enemy camp and approach the Assyrian general Herophanes, using their beauty to make him drunk, and then cut him down by the sword. The enemy camp is devastated by the loss of their commander, and Judith becomes the heroine of the story as she successfully defends her home.

From the subject matter of the painting, I could see that the author was a woman who fought hard against the oppressive male environment at that time. So I checked the relevant information and found out that the painter was violated by her father's friend when she was young, and she suffered all the humiliation in the court and finally convicted the criminal. However, the offender was not punished accordingly, and her father sent her away to another city to get married early to save the family's honour. But I believe that this painting is not only about her struggle against her unjust fate, but also about what happened to women as a group under the circumstances.
This painting also reminds me of my own life. I understand that my father and other male elders in my life really cared about me. But it was hard for them to put themselves in my shoes and think about what I really needed. I am very grateful for the care and concern from my elders, but I still hope that I can be a fighter for my community.

The subject about Judith was also created by the great painter, Caravaggio. He is one of my very favourite great artists. But as a male, his paintings merely highlight the great selflessness of Judith alone. The maid is only a foil, and there is no sympathy or mutual help between the women. It was precisely Caravaggio's painting that brought me to the peak of my admiration for this one, and made me realise the significance of Artemisia Gentileschi’s greatness in those times.

To evolve my paper plane, I tried my best to do the researches about the paper plane.There are some successful examples about the paper plane with sharpen fronts and narrow fuselages.But most of them require the strong strength to help them to take off.For me,strong arm strength is hard to get.Although,finding a way which can make the flight steady is important.

In China, there are many kinds of kite forms, such as bird, hexagon, octagon, triangle and so on. I chose the triangular shape similar to an airplane form for my modification in it.Except the shape of my plane,the paper which used to make plane is important.So I changed the paper to A4 printer paper with some thickness. Next I started my crafting. I folded the paper according to the rule of symmetry and taped a longer strip of paper to the end as a decoration. Then I threw the plane through my window and it wobbled in front of the window and created some pirouette curves!
