In my opinion, it is the most practical of all the options, as you need some sort of government stability, but you don't want to be completely controlled by your government. In the command economy, the government decides everything for you, giving you no freedom or choice in what you do. In the free market economy, the opposite is true, where you have to fend for yourself, and compete against others at the risk of losing everything and having no one to help you. A government is necessary in a good economy, but shouldn't be making all the decisions. In a mixed economy, the government is there to protect the people who make mistakes or don't work as hard as the others, but still lets you decide who you want to be and what you want to do. A mixed economy takes as many of the strengths as it can out of both command and free market economies, and leaves the weaknesses behind.
