Both immediate  الأُسرة & extended family العَائلة are important and each family member is referred to by a descriptive term that explains their position in this tree. 

For instance there is a specific term for uncle, maternal Vs. paternal uncle, cousin is an ambiguous term for an Arabic speaking person since it does not tell exactly on which side of the family they are. 

Your task this week is:

1- To investigate and research 10 words related to the family in Arabic. Start with basic ones like mother, father, brother, sister then move to grandparents, uncles and aunts, then cousins. (You will find some in Modern Standard and some in Dialect) 

2-Share two facts you learned about family relations in Arabic culture. 

3- How do these 2 facts that you found compare to the family relationships in your own culture? 

4-  Make a one sentence comment on one of your classmates’ videos.
