         <description><![CDATA[<div>Cancer is when there is a mutation in the DNA of a certain group(s) of cells which does not tell the cell when to stop replicating. As a result, the cells will keep replicating even though there is no more space forming a tumor. If the tumor has no restriction to where it can spread, it is known as a malignant tumor, or cancer.  There are over 100 different types of cancers, but they all develop from the mutation in the cell DNA which causes it to replicate too much.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are many different types of cancer and there is not one specific treatment that can cure all types. Methods for cure today include surgery to remove the tumor and chemotherapy and radiation treatment to kill the remaining cancerous cells. However, these treatments do not work every single time. It is also very difficult to cure cancer because it can multiply very aggressively and create clones of itself. Another reason why it is difficult to cure cancer is because stem cells and malignant cancers are very adaptable, and they can change to protect themselves from radiation. However, the good news is that humans are making progress towards curing cancer and the mortality rates from this disease have dropped significantly since the 1970s and continues to go down. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I believe a possible way cancer can be cured is through splicing. I do not know if this method will work or if it is in use already, but based off previous lessons I learned, I know that cancer is started due to a mutation in the DNA genes of a group of cells. If we can do regular screening for people who are already at high risk of cancer, and find the group of cancerous cells before they turn into a tumor that is too big, then maybe we can use splicing to change and "correct" the DNA of those cells to fix them from cancerous cells to normal cells. </div>]]></description>
