I can do my part to reduce poverty in my neighborhood in my own little ways as a student and a teenager. For example, I was fortunate to join the student catechist program, which has allowed me to share the gospel with my younger brothers and sisters and overcome spiritual poverty. Additionally, I will donate my own clothing to alleviate material poverty, providing them with food and some financial assistance. I will also encourage the families with no income to participate in different livelihood programs in our community that will help them generate incomes. Finally, by listening to them, we demonstrate our respect and care for them.

B9 Reyes, Jousef Dheniel A.

10 - Love

Another one of the actions or help that I as a student can lend to the needy is by simply encouraging them and burning a fire in their hearts to keep on going and to keep on persevering in life. As poverty is not the work of God and is simply a consequence of sin. That is why, I believe that by encouraging them to persevere through these hard times anyone can overcome poverty.

B01 Bautista Druss M.

10-Love

Poverty has been an obstacle that a lot of people in the society endure not just in the Philippines but also in the whole world. As time passes by, this problem gets worse and worse, but through our endless efforts we can slowly alleviate this by starting in the community where we belong. With this, one of the actions that I can do is to genuinely and whole-heartedly live out the corporal works of mercy even in my own little ways. This may include buying goods such as food and water in case that I have saved up from my allowance. In addition, I may also donate some of my clothes that are still in good condition, most especially if disasters like typhoons and floods happen. I will also continue my passion in being a student-catechist so that I may provide knowledge and pieces of advice to the children and be one of the bridges in order for them to reach their dreams.

Graft and corruption are two of the main things that contribute to the worsening case of poverty in our communities. Given this fact, even if I am not yet a registered voter, by simply encouraging my family members and acquaintances in my community to vote wisely and choose a leader who can be a bearer of hope, honesty, integrity, kindness, and strength for the members of the society, can already be a helpful step in alleviating poverty.

Lastly, prayers do really work wonders and with this, I will not forget to include the marginalized in my daily prayers so that a stronger call for help to the Lord may be given and eventually spark miracles in their life.

G-04 Dela Cruz, Brianna Cherine DG.

10 - Patience

Poverty is an ever-growing hindrance that heavily weighs on the lives of thousands of people in our community. As a student, I can become a change-maker who can make small but impactful acts, such as donating school supplies, clothes, or food, to bring relief to others. By being an open listener and showing genuine empathy, I can help make others feel appreciated and heard. I can educate myself on more impactful ways of lending a helping hand so that I may do more for my community. Yes, these actions may seem small, but, as Mother Teresa once said, "Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love". Even the smallest actions, when fueled by compassion and consistency, can ignite a ripple of positive transformation in the lives of others.

- G15 Aniza P.

Poverty is a never ending issue not only in our country, but also worldwide. Simple actions like the corporal works of mercy is a huge help for the poor and the impoverished. The second option can be the spiritual works of mercy for the lost fellow neighbors. It is aligned and linked to the first beatitude "Blessed are the poor in spirit, the kingdom of heaven is theirs." because they are not just poor on the outside, but also on the inside of their hearts. Counseling, giving "just" financial assistance and necessities, putting priorities to the poor first, and creating relationships with them to lead a lost neighbor to the right path towards God. I will also include them to my personal prayers and prayers to God. I may not truly end their pain, sufferings and poverty, But I can convert even the smallest change in their lives and may God bless them all.

B08_Mark Daniel Tapiceria 10 - Patience

Firstly, despite my lack of actual income, charity can still be achieved through donating my unused clothes and items. Aside from this, simply being friendly and with them can be a very good way to help; non-physical as it may be, it can be very good for their mental wellbeing. Lastly, praying for them is one of the most important things we can do as Christians. If anybody can help them in their current condition, it's God.

B06, Yohan Gabriel O.

As a grade 10 student, my capabilities are limited but there are a lot of simple but impactful ways I can help with the poverty in your community. When given the chance, I volunteer with my family to community centers as it gives us the chance to directly support people who need it. I can also organize small fundraisers like utilizing my skills for a bake sale or a donation drive to gather money or items for those facing financial difficulties. I have already donated things like grown out clothes, old books, and old toys that I no longer use is another way to make a difference. As a teenager with a lot of social media presence, I can use that to share posts to raise awareness about poverty in our community and encourage others to get involved and spread the word.

Helping others in smaller, personal ways also makes a big impact. For example, participating in or supporting charity events in my area, like fun runs or community fundraising. If only I had the luxury of time, I would put together care packages with essentials like food and hygiene products for families instead of using money for personal benefit. The school also offered a chance for me to become a catechist which focuses on helping others and could inspire younger students to light hope, although I failed to seize that opportunity.

No matter how big or small the action, every one of our effort counts. Through simple acts of volunteering, fundraising, donating, and raising awareness, all of us can help bring hope to the world, showing others that it only takes one person to start creating positive change.

Being young, there are limits to what I can do to help, but I will ensure to give my full effort especially since poverty is an issue that is happening and has been happening for a very long time. First, I will include those suffering from this issue in my prayers. Praying for the marginalized community is a simple way of doing my part. Second, I will encourage others to treat all, including the impoverished, with kindness. Encouraging equality within the community and setting aside all our differences as humans can truly make a positive impact. Donating and participating in charity events is also a great way in helping the poor. Through this, we can gain a better understanding of how they see and live life, improving our morality and empathy in them alongside it. Above all, the government is the one who is truly in power and they are capable of changing the community. Because of this, I can encourage others to vote for politicians who truly have empathy for the needy. G05 Dantes, Precious. 10-LOVE

By actively participating and volunteering at local charities I can dedicate my time to share food and donate old clothes as a help for them. Using our voice and raising awareness about poverty can help bring attention to the issues that needs to be addressed. These actions may be a small for now, but it will be a big help for those families who needs our support.

Alexia Marie Pineda

10-Love

G11

When I think about poverty in my community, it honestly feels overwhelming. It’s such a huge issue that needs everyone’s continued support and attention.

I am in a position where I can’t reach out for a massive-scale impact but the least I could do is start somewhere, that’s why I’ve been doing what I can do as a part of the youth.

Living simply is one thing I’ve started doing. I save up and donate used toys and books that may still be useful to others rather than using my allowance on items I don’t really need. Although it’s not much, I am aware that it could mean the world to someone else. I’ve also been trying my best to support local businesses over big chains, knowing that every small purchase can make a huge difference in someone’s livelihood.

Another thing that I’ve learned is that it’s very important to raise awareness and educate people about poverty because there are still some people who don’t know how it impacts them or believe it isn’t their problem as if they are not part of this society. A recent discussion in our Christian Living class on the “preferential option for the poor” has helped me gain a deeper understanding on how to focus more on the marginalized people and involve myself in corporal and spiritual acts of mercy.

I make an effort to share what I’ve learned with my friends and family, not to place blame, but to help them understand that poverty affects all of us and that we all have a responsibility to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to live in decency and respect.

G02 Biascan, Kiersten Malorri B.

10 - Patience

Alleviating poverty within the community is not an easy act for youth such as myself. The best thing we can do is convince our parents to donate old belongings such as furniture, clothes, and even gadgets. Encouraging the ones in the family who has the pockets to provide for others is the best thing we can do.

B06 Gabrillo, Jiro G. 10 - LOVE

It is completely impossible to fully alleviate poverty, it depends on society to recognize and realize. I believe our small actions can give those in poverty a chance to believe that there is still kindness in the world. Small actions like giving money/food/drink, spend time to know there situation, not avoiding them, listening to what they have to say and comfort them. We could also include them in our prayers. All of these might be small but it could have big effects for those in poverty and there is a chance in the future they would do the same thing we did for them, helping others.

Tesoro, Mary Daphne Denise M.

10-Patience

G16

As a student, I think it's nearly impossible to alleviate poverty, although there are some ways to atleast try and reduce it.

Some ways such as to support organizations that are trying to alleviate poverty. We can also spread awareness through our social media accounts, as social media widespread throughout almost everyone. We can use social media to voice out those who can't be heard for them to be able to get the help they need. Another is to educate those who aren't that much familiar with poverty. We can also spread awarness face to face with other people and aspire those who are younger than us to try and reduce poverty too, who knows, they might be able to actually stop it in their generation. There are many more ways to try and reduce / alleviate poverty, but as a student, I think this is all I can do for now.

Poverty is a big problem in our world which is needed to be stopped now. Even with just these simple acts, me as a student can help in reducing poverty.

G09 Pascual, Jianne Estelle A.

Grade 10 Patience
