"Normally, Nancy would willingly have taught Jolene to prepare an entire turkey dinner; she felt it was her duty to be available when younger girls came to her wanting help with their cooking, their stewing, or their music lesson." page 18

This passage shows that she took on a lot for her neighbors like helping to teach the younger girls how to do things and how to get better at their skills. The fact that she took on so much is amazing that she did so at just sixteen years old.

In regards to his family, Mr. Clutter had just one serious cause for disquiet- his wife's health. She was "nervous", she suffered "little spells" - such were the sheltering expressions Used by those close to her. Not that the truth concerning "poor Bonnie's afflictions" Was in the least a secret; everyone knew she had been an on and off psychiatric patient the Last half dozen years.

Dick was very liberal minded, very-he had no understanding of music, poetry-and yet when you got right down to it, Dick's literalness, his pragmatic approach to every subject, was the primary reason Perry had been attracted to him, for it made dick seem, compared to himself, so authentically tough, invulnerable, and "totally masculine."

Capote was explaining Dick is a kind of dull person. He doesn't have much of an imagination because he very literal and he doesn't have much emotion.

"Good grief, Kenyon! I hear you. As usual, the devil was in Kenyon. His shouts kept coming up the stairs" "Nancy! Telephone!" In the passage we choose Kenyon sounds like he is an outgoing character and has a loud and obnoxious voice. It also depicts him as being the devil, which maybe tells you that he is angry, mean and controlling.

"Mr. Cutter liked Bobby, and considered him, for a boy his age, which was seventeen, most dependable and gentlemanly; however, in the three years she had been permitted "date," Nancy, popular and pretty as she was, had never gone out with anyone else, and while Mr. Cutter understood that it was the present national adolescent custom to form couples, to "go steady" and wear "engagement rings," he disapproved, particularly since he hat to long ago, by accident, surprised his daughter and the Rupp boy kissing." Pg. 8

The way Capote tells this paragraph makes it seem like even though Mr. Cutter likes Bobby and thinks so fondly of him, he is still like any other father looking out for his daughter. Capote showed how his daughter had only had Bobby as a boyfriend and how as a father he didn't really know how relationships worked in those times. It didn't really seem like he knew about how close they were until he say them kiss.

I think this quote shows that he's more than just a murderer, he's also an intellectual. He likes to do more than murder, he likes to enjoy books

Based on the language in the passage describing mrs clutter, it appears capote is working hard to highlight the negative aspects of the woman. He makes it seem like she has a great many secrets, skeletons in the closet that people knew about but did not discuss. He tries to make her seem darker than many would have believed,

This passage shows that capote saw Nancy really good person. It also shows that she was like a mother figure to the neighborhood kids by always helping out and teaching them things.
