*Surgery depends on the size and the location of the tumor.

*A Lumpectomy is when the tumor is removed with normal tissue around it.

*Total and simple mastectomy is the removal of the entire breast. This might cause some of the lymph nodes to be removed from the underarm section and other tissues in the chest area.

*Radiation therapy uses radiation to help kill the cancer cells or keep them from growing.

*External beam radiation is when a machine outside the body aims radiation at the cancer cells.

*Internal radiation therapy (Brachytherapy) uses a substance that gives off radiation through different types of delivery devices. It is put inside the Breast where the cancer has been removed.

*Chemotherapy is using certain drugs to help kill the cancer cell in one area.

*Hormone therapy helps slows or stops the growth of hormone-sensitive tumors by blocking the body's ability to produce hormones or by interfering with effects of hormones on breast cancer cells.

*Targeted therapy is a treatment option for cancer that have a specific kind of maker on the cancer cell like HER2. Some cancer cells have too many proteins which causes the cancer to grow and spread more aggressively than normal cells. This treatment helps to only attach to the HER2 proteins on the cancer cells allowing the cancer cells to stop growing and die.

*Immuno-Oncology (Immunotherapy) is a form of cancer treatment that uses the power of the body's own immune system to prevent, control, and eliminate cancer.   •  One thing I learned was a sign of breast cancer and how it represents itself at times. One sign is when discharge from the nipple starts to appear. I learned that the colors of the discharge can appear greenish, yellow, or milky. But what was interesting was how the discharge from the nipple is more so white when breast cancer is present. I also learned inadept on all the treatments for breast cancer. Since I knew some of these treatments already, the one that stood out was the hormone therapy treatment. It was very interesting to learn that there is a hormonal therapy that can slow down the cancer cells and/or prevent growth within the cancer cells.

    I learned that Metastatic is the most lethal cancer and it can spread through different parts of the body.  From that, I was able to learn that Metastatic in men is sometimes called advanced prostate cancer. It most commonly spreads to lymph nodes in other parts of the body or to the bones. It can also spread to other organs such as the lungs.  I did my project on prostate cancer and having to learn about metastasis through your Padlet has helped me understand Metastasis in prostate cancer.
