Since I was in high school📚 I never had doubts🤔about what to do in my future. I had a passion for scientific subjects such as biology🔬or chemistry🧪, but above all I knew I had a mission in my life: help people and transmit happiness to those who have lost it. That’s why in September 2020 I tried the pediatric nursing test📃 and I passed.🎊I was the happiest person in the world 🥳because a new life, full of satisfactions, began. Sometimes I don’t feel up to this profession and the future scares me😥, but it’s the love for children,👧🏼 their purity of mind and the energy💪🏼💥they transmit to me, that give me the strength to continue this beautiful course. I want  to be a nurse💉because I love taking care of others and I want to give strength and hope☘️to these children who fight against their disease, as real superheroes.🦹🏻‍♂️

I hope to become a good nurse👩🏻‍⚕️🩺and draw many smiles😁 on the face of my little patients. 🧒🏻🎈

Nurse: Hi, I’m Serena, Neurology Ward Nurse. If you agree, I’ll ask you some questions to know more about Asia.

Mrs Onori: Good afternoon, I’m Cristina Onori and she’s Asia. Yes, I agree.

Nurse: Does the baby have allergies to medicines  or latex?

Mrs Onori: Yes, she’s allergic to latex.

Nurse: Does Asia eat everything?

Mrs Onori: She doesn’t eat meat and some vegetables.

Nurse: All right.  Now we’re gonna take the baby’s vitals, weight and height.

Nurse: Tell me more about Asia.

Mrs Onori: Sometimes while she’s playing, she begins to tremble and loses consciousness. I think it could be epilepsy.
Nurse: How many times a day does Asia have seizures?
Mrs Onori: Five times a day.

Nurse: Thank you, I’ll talk to the doctor and we’ll give you some information soon.  Probably Asia will have to do an EEG exam, to observe the crises.

 - Altruism:  love for others, which translates into an active participation in the resolution of their problems, difficulties and needs. It’s the basis of nursing because all nurse’s acitivities are directed to the well-being of patient.

- Empaty: the ability to share feelings of others. It’s very important to create a relationship, communicate and understand the needs of patient.

- Scientific knowledge: it’s very important for patient care. Nurse has to update, read scientific magazines and informations about process changes.

- Active listening: to understand patient’s needs.

- Communication:  a good nurse has to know how communicate with the patient and the equipe, to promote collaboration and team work.

- Keep a cool head: to manage emergencies without panic.

- Passion: the main skill and base of nursing. 

I hope to become a good nurse and I will work hard to learn all these skills, with tenacity and patience. I am very determined and I will achieve my goal, with experience and the passion that moves me.

The title of the article is “Is chocolate good for you? The pros and cons” and is about the origins, pros and cons of chocolate.

I chose this article because I love chocolate and all sweets. It was interesting to know the origins, pros and cons of chocolate, even though I already knew the cons.

A student nurse is discussing a diabetic patient with a hospital nutritionist. 
The patient has had diabetes since childhood, so he has type one, that usually appears before eighteen years.
He inject himself with insulin every day and he’s on a special diet, but he’s not obese, because obesity is linked to type two diabetes. A diabetic patient should eat the same amount of food at the same time of day, count the calories in his meals, check the levels of glucose in his blood and he shouldn’t have big meals, but snacks. All this, to prevevent hypoglycaemia, the condition when there’s not enough glucose in the blood.
