Lyndon expanded .After the congress passed the gulf of Tonkin resolution LBJ was able to take complete control and the military involvement went from 16,000 US advisors in non-combative roles, to 525,000 US citizens, in 1967, many of which were in combative roles. the military role in the Vietnam role creating controversy and the anti-war movement started. (hence the camo background. Johnson will forever be known because of Kennedy's assassination, his groundbreaking legislative successes and his oversight of a polarizing war.
