In the speech by Elie Wiesel, The Perils of Indifference, he talks about what he though about getting help while being in the camps, "If they knew, we thought, surely those leaders would have moved heaven and earth to 
intervene... And now we knew, we learned, we discovered that the Pentagon knew, the State Department knew". Nationally, we are struggling with more issues as well, disappearances of Native American women, police brutality, women's rights and equality, LGBTQIA+ rights, immigration policies, the death penalty, homelessness, and so much more. We also have other worldwide problems like global warming, animal species going extinct, waste management, poverty, and many other issues. So why are we not doing everything in our power to stop this? Why aren't we "moving heaven and earth" to keep our planet safe?

If a roof is leaking, you don't ignore it and hope it goes away in a couple of years. You patch it up as soon as possible.
