Fun fact : During the 1910s and 1920s, there were several popular hairstyles. For women, the iconic style was the bob haircut, where the hair was cut short and often worn with finger waves or curls. This shorter hairstyle was a symbol of liberation and the changing roles of women during that time. Another popular hairstyle was the Marcel wave, which featured soft, deep waves that framed the face. Men's hairstyles were typically shorter and more conservative, with slicked-back or parted hair being common. It's fascinating how hairstyles can reflect the fashion and societal changes of a particular era.

! In "Time and the Conways," Kay Conway is a central character who undergoes significant changes throughout the play. We see her portrayed as both the older and younger Kay, representing different stages of her life.

Younger Kay, depicted in Act 1 (set in 1919), is full of hope and dreams for the future. She is an optimistic and vivacious young woman, eager to explore the world and make a difference. Younger Kay is portrayed as someone who believes in the possibilities of life and is excited about what the future holds.

On the other hand, older Kay, shown in Acts 2 and 3 (set in 1937 and 1939), is a more disillusioned and introspective version of herself. The passage of time has taken its toll on her, and she has become somewhat bitter and resigned. Older Kay reflects on the choices she made and the dreams she had, realizing that life hasn't turned out the way she hoped.

The contrast between the younger and older Kay highlights the impact of time and the disillusionment that can come with it. It also raises questions about the choices we make and how they shape our lives. The character of Kay serves as a reflection of the broader themes explored in the play.

The Burnt City - Punch Drunk. 🎭

The Burnt City was about the fall of Troy and it was based on Greek mythology. there were gods and mortals. Punch Drunk presented that very well. It was set in a mysterious underworld. All those who played gods executed their roles very well it was very evident that they were high and mighty, they used levels to show status and proxemics between characters to show specific relationships, although there was very little dialogue it was very clear what was occurring, the movement was big and powerful. This immersive experience was one of the best I have seen it. In The Burnt City, a Strobe light with a siren sound was used and I thought together that was amazing because it got all the audience members panicking about what is next to come. The show began with a tour guide telling a story she then sent us off on our own and in the first room it was dark with a dim light over an artefact from Ancient Greek. As you roamed around their numerous doors, I was on edge. In the second room there was a projection of the underworld family tree that had Persephone in coincidence my character that I play and Hades as rulers at the top of the family tree. As I was walking around I realised there were many rooms ,some rooms were bedrooms or kitchens and some were just dark rooms but overall it was like a maze that was never-ending. The set design was so incredible. something that stood out to me the most was one of the bedrooms that had a shell-shaped bed with velvety material and blue carpet flooring. It conveyed the feeling as if you were under the sea and I thought that was fetching. Something that I thought was sufficient about the show is that all audience members had masks and there were many moments that we were in a round so it just felt as if there were just eyes on you. Across the board this was a very good show and the best thing was that the show repeated so I could follow one character the first time to see things from their view and and then the next time follow another character which was great because I got to see someone climbing and doing tricks up close . There was also many rooms to go in and just many different places of the city such as an arcade, a market , a restaurant , a flower shop there was many places to explore in this immersive experience .

If you would like to watch “The burnt city” tickets and prices are down below : https://tickets.theburntcity.com/timeslot/the-burnt-city?

If you would like to know more about punch drunk who is a theatre company who usually use contemporary moves and movement to tell there stories and give there audience an epic immersive experience. Click the link below for more on punch drunk : https://www.punchdrunk.com/about-us/

Punchdrunk Theatre, They're known for their immersive and interactive theatrical experiences.

Prior to starting the play 'Time and the Coneways,' we paired up, selected our auditioned characters, created a brief 1-minute piece inspired by the play, and performed it multiple times in a public park. This exercise helped us build nerves, confidence, and stronger projection skills for the stage. Transitioning these skills to the actual play, we performed outdoors without full costumes but wearing our character shoes, whether heels, loafers, or boots. While it felt odd to wear them on the grass, it helped us delve deeper into our characters as a whole this exercise from Almiro helped everyone .
