The things that happen in the book happen in our everyday lives and students need to learn about them.

This dystopian social science fiction novel explores a future that uncovers the government's obsessive need for economic growth, fueling the consumerist cycle. This obsession ultimately created a caste system that separated people by jobs, intelligence, and appearance. Its society's citizens are kept complacent by mood-altering drugs and entertainment, leaving no room for individualism. This novel was banned because of its characters' acceptance of promiscuous sex and since it was centered around negative energy. I disagree with this decision since it brings to light the corruption that society is blind to. I believe this novel does somewhat predict the future, where society is run by selfish ideals within a corrupt system.
