SOPHIA DANNUCCI When Montag was younger, he searched for a dime in the sand, but never found one. This is significant because it is similar to how he is searching for something significant in the books, but has not found what he is looking for.

When Montag seeks Faber for help with the Bible, he feels like he can trust him. Faber is a smart man and he knows what he is talking about. One of Faber's trait is revealed when he starts talking to Montag about the bible and how he isn't religious. We also learn how brave Faber is when he jokes about putting books in the fireman's houses with Montag.

The sand may represent Montag and the sieve may represent his journey of finding his happiness. The coarse grains of the sand may represent burdens or things that make Montag sad, such as his job and family life. The fine grains may represent Montag's happiness, such has his interest in books.

The poem reads"For the world, which seems to lie before us like a land of dreams," and "Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,". I believe this refers to how Montag feels to rest of the society that quietly listens to it without batting an eye. This also happens to Montag with Mildred and her friends are over repeating the same meaningless words to each other being happy as one could be. This causes anger to rise in Montag and to act in a similar fashion as he did on the subway. Bradbury added this to show the distraught and discomfort Montag as. To show his changed way of thinking.

This causes him to show Mildred his stacks of books and to read them. So he takes one book and takes it to Faber, who he through forces Faber to teach him about the books, enhancing his frustration of sitting around doing nothing and wants to take action against his society. Going back to his house, he lashes out again disregarding what Faber tells him, he is tired of this, of his society with everyone being sheep, not having meaningful lifes.

Faber's three life necessities is detail, leisure to digest it, and taking action. I believe we need these in life today because if we didn't have details to a story, then how could it be believable? How would it amaze? We need the second one because if we don't have time to think about something, then eventually we'll just forget it and mindlessly carry on. Finally, we need the third one so we can take action ourselves after being inspired by the first two, to live out something we heard and thought about.

They only focus on the two candidate's physical characteristics rather than their views on how to lead society. They don't mind war because they are short and don't harm anyone. They even report Montag to the authorities for relating himself to literature when he read a poem to them. Over all they just accept blind orders and don't question anything.

Faber is very smart but also very cautious because when he finds out that montag is a firemen he doesn't reveal that he has book just yet. I also believe that hes very wise because he has so much knowledge about book and is ready to share it when the world has realized that what they're doing is wrong burning books is bad and once people start to agree with that then and only then will he be willing to spread books. He's also a a coward by not sharing his knowledge and hiding books and unwilling to go through with montag's plan because he can get in trouble for it though it reasonable another example of this would be when montag almost left without the ear piece that Faber had created and he admits to himself that hes a coward
