- Football (soccer) is a major sport as well as many water sports, which makes sense because Guadeloupe has a lot of coastline since it is an island. [above picture is of water sports]
- The sand on the beach varies in colors, so artists are able to create a variety of colors in their blown glass. [above picture is of sand of a different color]
- Mostly dependent on imports, Guadeloupe does not produce enough fuel, food, and many manufactured goods to sustain itself. 
- Inheritance is based on the French laws of inheritance, so the amount of money received by the inheritors depends on the legitimacy of the child. If the parents are not married, the child receives no inheritance from the father.
- 85-90% of people in Guadeloupe are Roman Catholic because France is historically and remains mostly Catholic. [above is a Catholic symbol]
