Warm Up Task #1 Doodles Intro To Drawing Lines
Can you fill a space with lines and scribbles? Make sure your warm-up composition has :

1 thick & dark line that connects to make a large contour shape filling most of your paper.

1 continuous line of color scribbled within the contour shape to fill the space.

1 bold color fills the space outside of the contour shape.

In the student art above, this student studied Basquiat's images and created a contour line of a person's side profile. She then filled the space within the shape of the head will colorful continuous lines that are scribble like. Finally, she used a bold color to completely fill the space outside of the shape leaving no white spots to show through.

Tuesday: WATCH Video and Guided Notes

An Intro into our new concept, the learning goal today is every student will understand what sketch-noting is and have an example in their sketchbooks from the demo video.

In order to create a visually interesting set of notes for yourself, it is smart to first become comfortable with the visual toolkit you might be using. As you review what shapes might go into your visual toolkit, you need to understand this is not an art lesson, instead this is more of a visual word bank that you might draw from (video 3.14).
By linking an image or picture in your notes, you can remember what you learned quicker and easier and you can even draw sketch notes to link and explain concepts. A key to doing this, is by linking a picture and a meaning. For instance, a tree drawn could represent growth, life, or even stability (video 9.48).
