What occurred this week that did not go so well? I missed the first Zoom session for EDUC 801. Therefore, my team was created by default. The lesson learned for me was to read everything for both classes BEFORE Week 1. A moment of reflection for me is that even though I did not choose my team, my team chose me...which will prove very successful in
Week 9

Some reactions I had to a team activity were regarding the essential questions in our group conversation. We were asked to reflect on what it means to think creatively along with the role creativity plays in leadership. This linked to ideas on innovation and creative problem solving. I learned that my team members and I have similar ways of thinking and approaching problem resolution. We agreed that creativity and innovation "go together". Similarly, our beliefs are that leaders are not encouraged often to be creative and that leaders much "stretch" to incorporate creativity into operations. These efforts will lead to innovation and sustainability. This experience helped to solidify the fact that my team was indeed chosen.

I used the project as reflection to think about new insights gained from the experience and how to apply those gains to future growth opportunities.

An inspiring reference that entered my life space was the TED Talk of Dan Pink on motivation. Wow!! It has completely reshaped how I motivate my staff. Autonomy, mastery, purpose...no more carrots and sticks! Also, it served as a lesson learned as well as helping me to resolve a lingering question of how to motivate staff.

Kyndell and I thought about technology in education as a way to ensure sustainability. We communicated this idea to Denisha, and she agreed. Technology resonated so much that Kyndell created a Padlet to brainstorm how to approach the project.

In addition, I love using different media to express and communicate thoughts. I remember finding the exercise a welcomed departure from the writing of Research Design I.

What surprised me this week is that I was working on the final project for EDUC 801 everyday. It surprised me how therapeutic working on the project was. It allowed me not to focus on the re-write that I needed to do for Chapter 1 in EDUC 803. Which, now I believe helped me to approach the re-write with a clearer mind. I really appreciated having the balance of the leadership class with the research design class!

A personal situation that occurred this week was that I moved after twelve years of living in the same place. I can't believe that I decided to take on such an endeavor while in school and working full-time. The Hurdler at work... It was a great deal of work, but I did not freak out. I'm so grateful to family for pitching in and helping to make light work of a heavy task.

Relief!
Some things that have moved me through out the last 10 weeks are the lessons learned, questions answered, and personal gains made. I have so many emotions in Week 10...relief for getting to Week 10; amazed that the Third Quarter is almost done; pensive about the upcoming weeks; and hopeful about the future. An inspiring reference that entered my life space today was from a sermon I heard tonight that referenced living a stress-less life. We surely will not have a stress-free life, but we can certainly have a stress-less life. A stress-less life involves shifting focus from circumstances to truth. The truth is and will always be, so we can...stress-less!
