Picture this, have you been ever afraid that you would get hurt by the sport you love and never be able to play again? If so you are not alone. I went to head the ball as well as the defender on the other team but we ended up bumping heads except I blacked out for minutes and was dizzy like birds flying around me. I got benched than I've asked myself, ¨Am I going to be OK?¨ and ¨is this going to stop me from doing what I love? Most sports are violent. We all have been in serious situations where you question yourself when you worry about what could happen to you because most sports are violent and becoming more violent and it is affecting athletes.

As violence is part of any sport according to Carol C. Lehnhart the publisher of Violence and Concussion Problems in Major U.S. Sport¨ that some sports by their own generation are violent as well that there are particular amounts of aggression allowed or even encouraged. This points out that the organization of sports is opening to athletes basically saying that aggression is granted supporting them to be more aggressive to their opponents. Makes it clear that athletes are embolden not just in that one game but in the real sport.

Then add the aggression and violent sports to haven the ability to be stronger than other players. In Michael´s Atkinson article Criminal violence in sports he states that, ¨Players are viewed as heroes or weaklings, superstars or wimps, aggressors or losers, and men or sissies in reflection of their ability to be rugged players.¨ At first it seemed that these violent sports are affecting children by getting hurt but later we can tell that's not all. This reveals that extreme sports are affecting them by how tough they are in the game and if we are viewed as weak these athletes would do anything to be and look more stronger than they were before.

But, following the effects of intensive sports the amounts of injuries: concussion injuries. I interviewed my older brother who played for Staples football team and had many concussion that he could not play in the Alabama Football team. Not only was he not big for his position but the amount of concussion he had in his high school career. He had to give up playing however, he took up sport management. During the intertwined he shocked me he said, ¨About 30 million children and teens participate in a sport along with 3.8 million concussion injuries per year¨ This identifies that sports are getting rougher causing concussions to happen every year.

Although others would say, if kids wear the proper gear, they will not be affected but if they organized with the set of games and the rules of the sports why is there many injuries in many sports. According to Murray R. Nelson, the dramatic increase in concussion in sports has sparked a reexamination of the rules. This shows that the more the sports are violent the higher the chance is going to affect athletes by the many injuries the violent sport is causing because the rules are not strict enough.

I need to know what my peers in my school thought about rough sports, I did a survey and a 8th grade CMS student said, ¨violent sports do affect teenagers because they can hurt them physically, but also mentally¨ This demonstrates that any sport is attacking athletes What could be done to fix this problem? Well there is not a way to solve violent sports from happening because it is part of their generation but what we could do is stop affecting children is to say to the people who manage the sport(s) that roughness of the sport is affecting this young athletes there are making them feel like they can do whatever it takes to win or be better because there are no clever organization in these sports.

I've been involved in many different sports since I was young. My family are big sports fan of specific sports but, since a little kid try to learn many different sports and the players. One thing I never really liked to look at what the consequence were in a sport like the injuries sports cause it made me rethink that sports are not safe. After several years avoiding the topic I saw that myself needed to write my opinion about these violent sports so , this op-ed is about how the violent sports I participated in affected me and how it is affecting other children. The entry of this op-ed I felt proud of because I was trying to make my peers to imagine or take a moment in their life and connect it with this op-ed.
